Since there is a thread about favorite bad films you like, I thought I would start a thread about your favorite films from the 1960's (1960-1969). The decade is sometimes panned by critics for not having mush in the way of excellent films, but I disagree. There's lots of great movies from the era. Here's my favorites (I have them all on DVD)

Rosemary's Baby (1968 )
The Graduate (1967)
The Apartment (1960)
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (1967)
Psycho (1960)
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968 )
Oliver! (1963)
Hud (1963)
The Birds (1963)
Bonnie & Clyde (1967)
Bullitt (1968 )
A Raisin in the Sun (1961)
In Cold Blood (1967)
To Sir, With Love (1967)

There's a lot of other good 60's films, but these are my favorites.

To Sir, With Love
2001: A Space Odyssey
The Birds
The Haunting
The Russians are Coming, The Russians are Coming
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
To Kill a Mockingbird
Wait Until Dark
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

These are the ones that stick out in my mind:

The Birds
Pyscho
(^ Two great Hitchcock films)

To Sir, With Love
Lillies of the Field
(^ Two great Sidney Poitier films)

Zulu
Alfie
(^ Two great Michael Caine films, I love him.)

Dr. Stranglove
Planet of the Apes
(^ Two great Sci-Fi's)

The Sound of Music
The Music Man
(^Two great Musicals)

To Kill a Mockingbird (Robert Duvall's debut roll)

And last but certainly not least (I can't believe it hasn't been listed yet):
Lawrence of Arabia, because Peter O'Toole is the man.

Most of them are in pairs, but I didn't intend for it to be, they just came out that way.

Anyone remember John Schlesinger's "Darling" (1965) with the amazing Julie Christie?

The Russians are Coming, The Russians are Coming
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

I am amazed that anyone remembers these two great movies.

I could go on ....

Some of my favourites :-)

Bunny Lake Is Missing

Another great and little-known movie starring the uber-sexy Keir Dullea.

Still another great movie with Keir from the 60s is David and Lisa. A very unusual but excellent 'love story'. "Your touch can kill me!"

Probably Dr Strangelove, or how I learnt to stop worrying and love the bomb.

I liked Cleo a 5 de 7. It really made me feel like I was walking in Paris in the 1960's.
