I love to see excellent films. I saw several very good films this year. What films were your favorites for 2007

Here are a few of my favorites:

Away From Her (I hope this one wins something: amazing performances, touching, loving, sad, scarry, and educational. A perfect example of what true love is. I would not wish alzheimer's upon anyone, but I do wish that everyone is able to experience in their lifetime that level of love that the husband had for the his wife.)

Juno

The Namesake

Michael Clayton

Sicko (I hope that this one wins best documentary)

The Hoax

Gone Baby Gone:

Pan's Labyrinth:

Lives Of Others:

For a movie to be good to me, it must have excellent writing, acting and be an all around good film. That does not mean that I expect the writer to spell everything out for me and tie it up in a bow at the end. I don't feel the need for that and I sometimes find it to be a better film when the writer leaves some things undone. I like a film that makes people think.

I'm surprised that Knocked Up was rated so highly. It was way too predictable and boring. Juno is a much better film.

"Away From Her" was excellent, as were "Pan's Labyrinth" and "The Lives of Others".
The other one I'd add is "Into the Wild".....directed by Sean Penn (he also did the sceenplay). Excellent film!

I still haven't seen Sicko.....but hear it is good.

I'm new here (technically, cause I only have 5 posts now), but it never hurts to show what you like from the start.
My favorite films of "07 were:

The Bourne Ultimatum( Identity is my favorite film ever, and this film ended the series perfectly)

Stardust (Seeing two people I find REALLY attractive in one movie blew my mind, and I find Charlie Cox absolutely adorable)

Live Free or Die Hard

300

Deathproof (Second greatest car chase ever!)

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

As you can tell, I'm a big fan of movies with things exploding. :)

Sweeney Todd, The Simpsons, Enchanted, Blades of Glory, Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix

... It's 4am Its call I can remember lol

I haven't seen enough movies this year to have a solid Top Ten, but here's what I have so far:

1. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
2. Bug
3. Atonement
4. Knocked Up
5. Waitress
6. Hot Fuzz
7. Grindhouse
8. Sunshine
9. Elizabeth: The Golden Age
10. Zodiac

My Top 10 of 2007

(disclaimer: some of these came out in America in 2006, so...)

1. Little Miss Sunshine
2. This is England
3. The Last King of Scotland
4. Zodiac
5. The Assassination of Jesse James
6. The Bourne Ultimatum
7. American Gangster
8. Perfume
9. Michael Clayton
10. Ratatouille

But there were loads of others in contention. 2007 was a very good year.

I'll take a slightly different direction. The BF and I watch a gay-themed movie once or twice a week. Lots of them aren't very good, but there is usually something good in each one. My favorite top ten of the ones we saw this year:

The Line of Beauty

East Side Story

Rick & Steve: Season 1

Outing Riley

WTC View

Los Jornaleros

Whole New Thing

We Are Dad

Hit and Runway

and the last one are some that we revisited:

Gods and Monsters
Billy Elliott
Family Stone

Best movie I saw in the theater in 2007: Ratatouille.

Worst movie I saw in the theater in 2007: Ratatouille.

I don't get to the movies much.

Yes, I think that movies are probably one of the most important forms of art of our time. Of course, not every movie is art. That is subjective. It is just too bad that most people go see blockbuster films instead of films with excellent writing, acting, amazing scenes, etc. However, it is nice to see the growth of good films and see that people are going to them.

When I went to see Atonement, the theater was packed.

some of my favorites =
Juno
No Country For Old Men
The Darjeeling Limited
30 Days Of Night
Hot Fuzz
Grindhouse
The Simpson's Movie
Superbad

Sweeney Todd

I'm really starting to obsess over it...
