I love Enya and I have all of her CDs, but I'd be hard-pressed to pick a favourite. This one, though was my introduction to her and it takes me places in my mind every time I hear it.

one of my favorites...

All of Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew". Zones me out and puts me in a very delightful place. And frankly it's also excellent fuck music. Get it.

(This isn't the track I'd pick to represent the album, but it's what was on YouTube...)

I have a version of this from an ABC Radio Swoon collection. It's so easy to get lost in, so repetitive and moving.

Beautiful.

I love the trailer too. Cannot wait for the movie's release!!

I don't think of this as soothing. To me, it is tense and anxious the whole time, and maybe just the tiniest bit cynical. i.e. Barber's mentioning of it in a letter he wrote to his (male) lover: "I have just finished the slow movement of my quartet today—it is a knockout. Now for a finale..."

Oh no.

Barber's Adagio is one of the most poignant and haunting pieces of music. Because it has a resolution it also is soothing and satisfying. It is like being washed clean of sorrow.

It is anything but tense or anxious.

It is all in the ear of the listener, isn't it?
