Your Grocery budget for the month

I don’t have a set amount. Typically I stop by the market once a day and pick up what we need for the day. This keeps our dining menus flexible and minimizes waist from spoilage. I do make an exception when there are crazy sales, such as buy one get one free. If the item has a long shelf life, such as pasta or canned soup, I buy enough for several weeks or more. Total month expenditure is probably $400 to $500.

In my retirement now, I am debt free. My house and 2 cars are paid for and I pay off the credit card each month. I have a work retirement pension account I draw from as well as my social security pension. My expenses are pretty low since I don't vacation or travel, no expensive hobbies, and no one else I need to support. I really do need to spend some substantial money on my house, it is mostly for cosmetic reasons (for curb appeal). Although I do compare prices of food items, for the most part I buy whatever I want for food including groceries, fast food, and the occasional restaurant.
