Remember that comedy skid in the old days when a robber points a gun at a penny pincher and asks your money or your life and the penny pincher say hang on let me think about it?

Well, not exactly his own life but this real life situation is close enough.

https://thepostmillennial.com/las-v...break-car-window-with-daughter-trapped-inside

Let me recap.

(1) Dude arrived at his girlfriend's place, left his 1 year old daughter in the car, and locked the door.

(2) Dude argued with his girlfriend for 30-40 minutes before remembering he locked his daughter and the key inside a hot car.

(3) Dude's brother offered to break the window, but dude stopped him saying he didn't have enough money to replace the window.

(4) Dude told his brother to call his mom to call the insurance company to send a locksmith.

(5) Insurance said a tow truck or locksmith wasn't covered and the price would be too high so the dude hung up.

(6) Dude flagged down a police car driving by but stopped the cop from breaking the window. By now, it is another 30-40 minutes.

(7) Cop hesitated because he didn't want to end up on the 6pm news.

(8) After 15 minutes or so, cop finally thought eff it we need to save the kid and so he broke the window.

(9) Kid is dead by now.

(10) Dude got arrested and facing charges.

i divided up into 10 lines to emphasize how long the kid was sweating inside that hot car while her father was figuring out ways to save money on the car window.

(3) Dude's brother offered to break the window..

should've busted out the window regardless of his dumb-ass criminally negligent brother's fee-fees about the cost

(7) Cop hesitated because he didn't want to end up on the 6pm news.

dumb fucking cop...going to be on the news anyway

he was well within his rights to bust the window

and then arrest the dad

sounds like a great deal of stupidity was going around with everyone involved; child dead because of it

(7) Cop hesitated because he didn't want to end up on the 6pm news.

went back through the article and also the link to the NYPost article

where does it state that the cop said this?

Pretty sure that is just meant as commentary by the OP and nothing more. Couldn’t read the article posted because that link was riddled with ads for me. But to me even though the Father is clearly at fault, I don’t understand why they all just sat there and listened to the guy. Clearly the guy cared about the Car more than the girl from the get go, should’ve just broke the window earlier based on that.

girlfriend - brother - tow truck driver and cop should also be locked up - all to stupid to wonder the earth unsupervised

A movie and television comedy screenwriter client of mine said that the famous Jack Benny skirt you refer to is the funniest 4 seconds of silence every broadcast on television. It's important to know that Benny's radio and screen character was notoriously cheap, so the audience was primed for this.
