I rarely smoke (maybe 2-3 times a year). The last time was with my boss this past october. It wasn't very good stuff. The best time was 6 years ago in SLC. I think it was 'blueberry' and I never laughed so hard. The next day, I thought I may have broke a rib cuz I was so sore.

I digress! I like it and I say legalize it. It would be great income revenue and it would drastically hurt the drug cartels.

As reported in a Benson, Arizona newspaper:

"The Benson City Council and Planning & Zoning Commission held a joint session last week, discussing how to move forward with regulating medical marijuana distribution and use inside city limits"

I'm wary of anything that will make me act differently than I normally would, especially since I won't be able to control myself if I get drunk/high, etc. It might be a good way to relax, but there are far less risky ways to relax. I mean I guess weed is better than drinking or other hard drugs, but it's still not something I would ever do, personally. But hey, if cigarettes and booze is legal, pot should be too.

Weed is fine by me. I've tried it, but don't really like the smell and the high really isn't worth it to me. It's also illegal which makes me less likely to do it anytime soon.

I take the Libertarian approach to drugs. I say make them all legal. HOWEVER, drive/operate under the influence of them and you lose your license (driving is a privilege, not a right). Go to work on drugs and you can get fired. Get caught being intoxicated in public and you will get arrested. Whatever you do at home is your own damn business.

The APA has studied drug addiction rates (Note: Tobacco and Alcohol are not considered drugs by the FDA), in the US over the past century and the only thing that has changed is the demographic that uses it (from 20-40 females to 18-30 non-white males). The US addiction rate is still around 9.8% with little fluctuation over the years.

I'm not advocating the usage of drugs (as they can destroy your life and those around you) but the point I'm trying to make is that, people are going to use them whether they are legal or not. Spending money to enforce anti-drug laws is a waste of tax dollars. Obviously the "moral majority" would frown upon making drugs 'legal' but give the prior statements, I doubt the addiction number would jump at all.
