What is “inappropriate” about our 65 second commercial? It was shot at Venice Beach, in Southern California with a dozen men and women having fun at the beach. It ended with friends Andrew and Michael (a couple who have been together 7 years) exchanging a quick kiss. Is that kiss what YouTube considers inappropriate? There are gay kisses on television every day and certainly lots on YouTube and other popular video sharing web sites.

Oh, the humanity! What do we tell the children? :help:

It is really sad to read about this type of shit.

So where's the video? Surely someone copied it somewhere.

But the complaint is right -- and YouTube is full of crap.
Yes, it is.

However, one can see the video via hyperlinklink. (Just search for Fred Karger) on YouTube.

This preceded the video. Very disappointing. I was expecting wild, monkey sex but
there wasn't even any tongue.

:grrr:

I'm just afraid we're going to see more of this shit, especially during the election and the pendency of the CA marriage case.

As of today, 2:44 pm EDT, it's up and running, but with a "parental advisory: explicit content" warning at the beginning.

They pulled the ad for that innocent little kiss? If they are worried about kids seeing that, I'm sure anyone could just go to any high school and see what goes down there. Pathetic...

As far as Fred Karger... I don't know who he is either lol. And I live in California. I'll vote for whatever democrat is running. It was an interesting video ad though.

While trimming tree height the other day for people with houses above the beach, I looked down and saw two high-school-aged guys walking along. A minute later when I looked down again, they were kissing passionately enough they were practically inside each other's clothes. For this redneck place, I thought it was great -- but I guess YouTube wouldn't allow me to post a video of that.

Someone should search through and see if they've allowed any female-female kisses.

YouTube has a long history of homophobia.

YouTube has always flagged gay kisses as "explicit" content. They do not do this for straight kisses, of course. A few years ago, I complained to them about this, along with a few others from JUB. YouTube said they had to flag such videos, because they got complaints about them. So, we did the obvious. We complained that we were offended by the straight kisses. Their response was not to flag straight kisses as "explicit," of course, but to tell us we should not watch videos that offended us.

It's a disgusting double standard.

Maybe we should go over YouTube's head and complain straight to Google?

Doing a search of lesbian kisses gives you three pages of results. So, yes they do.

I'm confused. Just did a little reconaissance of YouTube and discovered all kinds of m/m activity. I thought I was going to need a cold shower! There were many instances that went far beyond a little peck on the lips. I wonder what YouTube is trying to prove? Maybe they just don't like Fred Karger.

Explicit Content? That's very tame compared to what one sees on network TV each day. It has to be that they don't like Fred Karger (though I have no idea who that is or why YouTube would dislike him). On second thought there were some very scantily clad females shown in the video, maybe that's why the content is explicit.

YouTube doesn't know about most of that stuff. They wait for people to complain, then they flag the videos as "adult content." If no one (or not enough people) complains, then the videos don't get flagged.

The hypocrisy is that if you complain about straight kisses, they don't do anything. They only respond to complaints about gay content.

And, of course they don't like Fred Karger. He's gay.

I was going to raise this very point. I'm guessing it's the republican establishment not liking Karger.

They should change the flag to say, "Content we don't like, even though it's no different at all from content we do like."
