family jokes that i gave a good sign from the first day... when mother tried to breast feed me... i would scream and refuse to suckle. she would try and try and i would just scream.... so she had to bottle feed me.

later on i enjoyed playing barbie's with my friend. i enjoyed my sister putting nail polish on me and styling my hair.

i'm sure there are more, but those are the only one's coming to mind.

i thought anita bryant should mind her own business. i guess the older guys will understand that reference.

also, i always tried to mimic Barbara Streisand walking down the stairs in the restaurant scene in Hello Dolly. I started this when I was about 10 or so. I made all the costumes on my mothers sewing machine, got the wigs and gloves, that was my first hint....

playing 'naked with my best friend across the street who is now homosexual
crushing on men from off the TV
looking at guys on posters in catalouges, magazines etc instead of girls
wanting to do arts and cooking and socialising rather than boxing rugby and football
looking first time at porn and going to the gay section
having sex with a guy first time

- Whistling the Queen of the Night's vengeance aria while walking through a department store

-total fandom of a female singer after having bought all of her records and listening to them over and over again

-standing with my hands on my hips

Second grade. I remember seeing this light-skinned, buck-toothed boy, Earl, [crazy how I remember his name] and thinking he was "pretty." Not knowing, of course, that it meant I was gay or that I shouldn't be thinking he's pretty.

Later I struggled with "I'm gay, I'm straight, I'm gay, I'm straight" before finally concluding that I just like both.

Meh I did not really give off any signs or go for any signs. I did not listen to backstreet boys or nync or brittney spears. I did not play dress up either or read fashion magazines. I was very reclusive and for the longest time listened to no music at all. The first music I really did listen to was pop rock like blink-182 and smash mouth. I just did not really like the popular music at the time. I did not care about fashion or theatre. I did not hit on guys but started fantasizing about certain guys near the end of middle school.

I think the biggest sign that I was gay was when I got a PSP and looked at gay bear porn and got off. And from then on fantasizing about older men >.>

I did know a boy my age who did dress up all the time in girl clothes and liked backstreet boys and dancing and theatre. And no one was surprised when he came out a year or two ago. He did go through a denial stage for a while though and try to date or at least hang around girls. I wasn't really that popular or social with guys or girls and I did not really go through a denial stage.

Oh and that thought about "Well maybe if a marry a girl I'll forget about guys and everything will be normal." That popped into my head for a second and went away forever. It wouldn't be fair to the girl and plus I like guys too much :D

I liked rainbow sherbert ice cream too though. That must have been it. I was a fag the minute I liked rainbow sherbert ice cream :O

I loved She-Ra and Jem!, and in grade 3 when all the kids had to make a shadow-outline of our head and write a small biography about ourselves to go beside it, I decorated the entire board with rainbows and pegasus’ and centaurs and faeries and clouds and stars. I still have it.

Oh, and I always loved big hairy men.

Re: • Childhood Signs that You Were Gay?

ahhh...memories.

Me too!!!

But found I am better at things that are not considered team sports anyway, swimming, running, biking.

My childhood signs???

I guess it was being called fag, queer, fruit by the other kids.

Re: • Childhood Signs that You Were Gay?

when your fellow kids telling you that you are like a girl,
you are very likely to be gay.

Similarly, my classmates in 6th grade started saying I was gay, that I looked gay, acted gay, etc. I didn't realize it at that point, but they were right.

I was also fascinated by any clothing ads featuring good looking young men, and I was just a little kid at that time.

Then when my first wet dreams occurred, it was my male classmates who were the stars of my wet dreams.

When I saw one of my best friends wearing tight fitting Levi's I got this immediate boner, and I knew something was up. It still took me a long time to accept it, but as I look back on it now, I can clearly see there were all kinds of signs telling me I was gay way back then.

Yep! I know what you mean.

Re: • Childhood Signs that You Were Gay?

on-topic: I tried to top my 'cousin' (we're not actually blood-related, thank god!) when we were bathing together, I must've been like 5 or 6 at most. Couldn't even get an erection but we tried to have sex. That was a pretty big warning sign. LOL.

What did your cousin do? Was he into it at that point, or were you just taking the iniative?

Re: • Childhood Signs that You Were Gay?

Well, interesting article and i can say that when i was young, i played sports and with cars but i was also oddly fascinated by my mom's makeup kit and shopping and "pretty things." i was always concerned about my looks and style from a really young age and i remember looking through the sears catalog/department store ads as a early teen before i discovered porn and masturbating to the men's underwear ads. *|*

Anyone care to share their experience?

I also played sports at school and was your regular kid next door. My Mom however told me there were some signs after I came out to her a few years ago.

Apparenlty these signs were not as obvious at first - I used to watch a lot of soapies as a young child, but later on it became more apparent. There were the singing in the school choir, having more female friends than male friends and my early love of musicals.

All this was still a bit vague she says, but by the time I reached puberty she could not ignore the obvious signs - listening to Madonna CD's, having a strong opinion about the clothes she bought me and continually catching me sucking-off the poolboy behind the garage. If I think back now, I could have hidden my Madonna CD's a lot better.

Re: • Childhood Signs that You Were Gay?

hmm...I played with cars and legos when I was a kid. And I pulled the heads off my sisters barbies...I wasn't much of a gay role model I guess. I thought it was funny. They were playing house and brushing the barbie's hair, and then they'd leave for a minute and come back and all their barbies were beheaded. I guess I was a bit of a jerk when I was little lol.

I still like lego...

That's hysterical!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My earliest memories are of being attracted to boys and later men. I hated aggressive sports, and didn't like to play any sports much as a kid, and as an older kid I did everything to avoid sports, even getting in trouble in school gym class. I remember when I was little, I got pissed and started bitching when a TV movie went to a commercial right at the part a man was being stripped and tied up, saying "They always stop at the GOOD PARTS". In short, I always knew. I spent the first 25-30 years of my life in denial, and made a half-hearted attempt to be straight, but it didn't work. I'm very straight acting, but love guys through and through! As all of us know all too well, it aint easy growing up gay.........

I would always pick on the boys I liked in grade school.

Wait a sec.

I say that you can tell even a kid is gay, and I get labelled a bigot and evil incarnate.

But post a news article about it, and everybody reveals how gay they were as a child?

OK.

Re: • Childhood Signs that You Were Gay?

When "Moulin Rouge" came out, I really liked the song "Lady Marmalade." My friends from school said, "Oh sure, you only like it because they're in their underwear for the music video!"

"Yeah... sure..."

My grandma and I rented that off of PPV when it came out, and I bought the soundtrack lol. Me and a friend I had as a kid used to watch Grease all the time and fight about who was going to be Sandy...

I feel like when I was at his house we'd play with his siters barbies, but it was like warped stuff... We'd see how strong the fan blades had to be to cut her head off, things like that.

I always knew that I liked boys when I was a kid, I just never knew that I was gay, I just assumed that everyone had crushes on boys... It wasn't until I left catholic school and went into public school that I realized that almost all boys DID like girls, and that there was something different about me.

. . . . duh . . . .

I do agree though, some kids you can just tell.

Growing up I knew my cousin was a lesbian, when we came out to eachother I just texted her and was like "So, I'm gay and I'm pretty sure you're a lesbian." lol
