I get flack all the time from men from all orientations. I pretty much hate human beings because of sexual politics bullshit. I don't care about your damn statistics. The Kinsey research, while better than a dichotomy, is still a shit-stupid category that seeks to separate us instead of learn more about each other.
If "straight" men weren't pimped out as 'the man' in society and shown to be dominant and superior in all ways would you still find them so sexy? It's worth considering.

Yeah - there is the danger of labels, esp when people are more forthcoming about being gay or straigh - more so, let's say, than about 100 years ago. With the application of a label (perfect example - two-party politics), there seems to be more of a need to identify yourself with either one or the other, but there is really also a gray area in life.

If the survey didn't reference ages, it might include juvenile curiosity.
Many college guys also feel free for the first time and experiment with drinking and drugs, music & politics & even gay sex.
Some like certain of those things and stayed with them while others simply don't get off on them.

Many straight guys have had sex with dudes.
It's not about the love of a woman or man but simply for the sex.

If I had to serve lifelong in an a women only prison, I wouldn't have sex with any woman there whatsoever. So, I don't understand men can have sex with men in prison unless they are at least bi or gifted with strong intermale sexual desire. The chances of finding a women to have anonymous sex with is...pretty slim to none. Unless of course you're rich, extremely good looking, high on the social ladder or all of the above. Many heterosexual guys, don't even really want anonymous sex with a women. It's a romantic/sexual/emotional relationship with them that we crave, or at least I do.
If a guy decides out of the clear blue that he wants a blowjob. He can go to a bar, spend hundreds on drinks and the chances of him going home with blue balls is greater than his chances of getting some. He can also go to a hooker. Either way, he has to spend money and put forth a lot of effort.
Meanwhile, you can go to a porn shop, walk into a booth and wait for a random stranger to do it. Without even looking at him. To a normal straight guy, that might seem disgusting and he'll have no interest. But to a sexually compulsive one, without a lot of self esteem...it might be appealing. Sometimes just, loneliness and a need to connect with somebody, another male could be a reason. They desire men romantically/emotional...or even sexually. But this need, could become sexualized...especially for the man who views the world through a sexual filter and fantasy.
Most of the women on craigslist are either picky prostitutes or fake. If you post a M4W ad, it will sit there till it expires. If you post a M4M one, your inbox will blow up.
So yes, sexual compulsiveness + availability/opportunity could cause a straight fellow to "act out", not "come out". Plus the secretness of compulsive sexual behavior, porn use, anonymous encounters can make it easier. "Well, nobody will ever no anyway".
Religion/Society and the internalized homophobia theories COULD be a reason for a man to not accept his true orientation, but in many cases...it's just ol' and tired now.
