True, so many jealous girls.
Also people assuming he is looking for attention, which I see this a lot when it comes to a topic like this that catches wind with the media. Just because a story like this gets to the media doesn't mean this kids intentions were to seek attention, why do people assume this? This could be something he does regularly, nobody knows him. Brings me to my next point, why are people that don't know him or go to this school have a problem with it? Clearly the students didn't when they voted him Prom King.
At the end of the day he dressed within the schools dress code, so there doesn't seem to be a reason to be upset here. He's a male, who dressed up as a woman and that's all there is to it. It doesn't do any harm to anyone, outside of their own insecurities and sensibilities.
There are always two sides to every rule, every law, every code of conduct, etc. (1) The letter of the law and (2) the spirit of the law.
An example of people who follow the letter of the law but ignore the spirit of the law are certain stalkers who walk right up to the line but never actually crossed it. Another example is people like this kid, who very carefully made sure the dress followed the dress code but still made it look as provocative as possible. That's ignoring the spirit of the dress code.
I could have brought up exhibit A as another example of how a person can follow the JUB CoD and still be as uncivil as one can be. Accusing one a liar without just cause is as bad as it gets. That would be ignoring the spirit of the CoD but is technically allowed here.
I have found that those who hide behind the letter of any code of conduct while ignoring the spirit are morally questionable. It tells me that they are the type of people that would always look for legal ways to push limits.

You can do better than that Ari. I could make a better "they're just pandering" argument than that. The location alone makes you sound just silly. This is the bible belt, how far will a "My school was mean to me for wearing a prom dress" lawsuit go?
