so here we are, the last week of 2009. how was your year?

myself its been one of ups and downs. my work life has been very stressful and many times i nearly walked away out of misery and frustration. but the knowledge that i had bills to pay and a stomach to feed kept me at it. my personal life has been interesting. i put myself out there more than i have in the past and i've learned a lot from the good stuff and the bad. i'm looking forward to closing the door on 2009 and i am hopeful that 2010 will be better.

The same here! Change of titles, change of boss, more international travel, and (hopefully) more respect from my team (we are all a little tired at this point).

The day you stop learning is the day you die. I keep trying to learn something new about myself, my family and the world around me so I don't become stale.

"It's ALL good" is my motto for 2010.

I had an amazing 6 month experience traveling in Europe and living in Germany, came out (!!!!) and had my first (amazing) experiences with guys. I realized I don't have much of a future with my chosen major, but I can deal with that. Overall, 2009 has been a great year!

Woke up from a social coma... enchanted the love of my life... became a student again... went from working for the "man" to establishing my own small company... and about a thousand other things in between... busy years always fly by sooo fast.

All in all I guess it has been a pretty good year. Things are good with my partner; we're officially engaged but have no idea when we'll tie the knot. Work was stressful with a lot of changes and transitions due to the recession. I'm glad to have a job because a few of my friends and coworkers lost theirs. We have a new dog and she fits in well with our family. My family is healthy. Finally, we were able to travel to Mexico and also made it to our vacation home three times

I can't complain at all but I'm looking forward to better things for all in 2010 :D

2009 was a helluva year....

The BAD
For part of the school year, I did the job of two people but was only paid for one (nothing like trying to cover/teach TWO classrooms at the same time!).
A new principal threw the school staff into a meltdown at the start of the current year.

The GOOD
Got a new vehicle!
Teaching AVID -a great program designed to get students into college.
Facebook is putting me in touch with a ton of people from my past.
The new principal leaves me alone and lets me do my thing -impact the lives of my students.
A former student was accepted into West Point -and claims I was the one that challenged him to do so. The kid swears he won't have made it if I hadn't challenged him as a middle schooler... the newspaper article and thank you letter he wrote get me every time!

mikey

Returned to school
Lost an aunt
Gained a niece and nephew
Was unemployed for most of the year.

Not so fine in 2009, I'll try again in 2010

came out and moved to Spain for half a year.
I have laughed the usual amount and I have cried a lot more than the previous years. now I feel less numb, which is pretty good.

The 1st months were ok...
This summer was aweful, it was lil better this fall not that much..

2009 sucked for me overall

Rather uneventful, but that's a good thing.

I made some great new friends and have been getting out of the house more.

Got to start working on a personal life in 2010 ;)

Pretty shitty year overall if you ask me.

Pretty much the same for me.

Had some good times with some good friends.

Oh, and I'm a year older. #-o

Worst year I can ever remember. Business sucked all year and that created a domino effect with virtually everything else.

Good riddance 2009!

Let's see...

- I finally found gay friends (offline). I was invited over to watch a movie with two guys in February, and now I see them and others regularly.
- Connected to that: I have been going out to gay bars and clubs, and have been enjoying it (most of the time). I'm not a club boy, and I never will be, but 2009 showed me that it is possible to simply have a good time at a gay bar.
- I finished my Master's thesis. The first half of '09 centred around what was to be called Staging the Plague - Theatricality and catharsis in AIDS drama. And drama it was, but I finished it three days before the extended deadline. I worked my ass off January-August, mostly skipping the Summer holidays. But it paid off.
- I went abroad quite a few times. Eight trips, mostly two or three days, to meet with friends and to have fun. It's these mini-breaks that have gotten me through the year.
- I started teaching at a good school. This is the first time teaching is fun.
- Major theme: finding a boyfriend. The only time I came sorta close was in May, and that was limited. Still, I was falling for the man and to this day, I'm hurt at the way it ended (or didn't end, really).

It seems that, in 2009, I was lucky in everything but love. And it's that last thing that gave 2009 a very bitter taste for me.

At work it went from bad to "bader" and finished "badest"

I had a pretty fucking good year. I can't believe it's already over, though.

Highlights:

-- saved up and bought a brand spankin new piano keyboard that I just love to death

-- took a roadtrip to the Midwest and met up with my friend Dan (and other fantabulous JUBbers)

-- finally got myself out of the pit of despair (aka St. Augustine, FL) and moved across the country by myself

-- wrote a few songs that I'm really diggin right now and brought back to life my music myspace site

-- found a job that I love that is stress-free and with coworkers and managers who like and respect me

-- found ANOTHER job in addition to the job above that looks like it should work out very well... I start next weekend

^ seeing you here in s.a. this summer was most definitely a hi lite of my year. (*8*)

we will need to hang again in twenty ten. :)

Stuff happened. I lived, I loved, I laughed, I cried... Yep, that about covers it.

Everything was pretty steady and predictable this year. Maybe the new decade will bring with it some excitement. :)
