The raw materials for my Christmas cards arrived last night. Just need a couple more supplies and I'm set to go.
LOL never thought of xmas cards as having 'raw materials' or 'supplies'

It is a labor of love for Lex or a creative outlet.... makes me wanna up my game.... but I may juts be lazy again this year havent come up with any ideas.....

unfortunately I will not be joining this year...I just have way too much stuff going on..and no extra money.....I will be back for this next year though....the last two years of this, were really fun...:)....plus since I am still without a computer, I am rarely on here anymore.....:/....you all have a great holiday though.....:)

Well I am a step behind but I did amazon prime my cards to me yesterday so i will be ready to scribble on Monday.... so yeah that list... :)

I went off last year too but do we know how many there are yet?

Technical difficulties...meaning I'm an idiot with my mail program. But I think I finally got the list all sent out. Some of you may have gotten multiple copies but there is no difference in the lists. Some of you may have received the list from my personal email...again no difference in the lists.

If anyone did not get a copy please PM me and I will get it to you right away.

Thanks!!! Just to put it out there, the list is not final and done until the end of November? or is it by US Thanksgiving day ??

Right. The list officially closes November 30 and I'll send out the final list Dec 1. This list was intended as a preliminary mid November list for those who wanted to get started early. The number is down from previous years but hopefully more sign up in the next two weeks. Sometimes people miss "stickies"...I'll post another message in HT to catch some attention.

c-s I agree, posting an extra thread in Hot Topics is a **GREAT** idea! I think that stickys are almost always missed by people, because they so very rarely change.

Stickys are generally supposed to be the "most important" threads in here, but it's sometimes taken me six months, a year, or more to see sticky threads - even in Forums that I often go to.

I've asked before, but I was wondering if the vBulletin software supports a type of "sticky" which would appear within the main summary of all Forum posts, and AUTOMATICALLY BOUNCE BACK to the top of the summary every time it drops off the front page, so it would always appear somewhere on the front page. This would of course be used for stickys which have some sort of "timely value" such as this one which is relevant only up to the days close to Christmas. After the timeliness part has expired, the sticky could presumably be retired, or turned into a "regular sticky" which would be in the small section above the Forum.

Of, even this in preference to what we have now, the stickys used to be at the top of the Forum, but not in the separate small section. Maybe "timely stickys" such as this one could be put first in the Forum summary queue, and the small section on top would be for "permanent stickys" or something...

OFF TOPIC A BIT...I WOULD ALSO SUGGEST A "TIMELY STICKY" ATOP THE BUSIEST FORUMS (HT, Fun & Games**, C E & P, Amateur, etc.) when a JUB meet is planned. I know that some people here (BUT HOW MANY??) agree with me that JUB meets are arguably the most important event, derived from this Site, that can ever happen - and it's a pity and a shame that the amount of publicity for these Meets is absolutely *ZERO* in here!!! I assume that the vast majority of members aren't even aware that JUB meets have ever happened, because the Forum is entirely hidden, near the very bottom of "View All Forums," and is not even available on the smaller dropdown menu.

I have very few complaints about this site, but my complaint about this aspect is MASSIVE.

[EDIT: "Gun & Games"??? Wow, that was a goofy typo]

I would like to do this , but I have two questions:

1) The OP says I have to give my real name. Can I use RJ? That is what everyone calls me or my other nickname. I don’t like using my real first name.

2) I have never sent anything internationally, how does one do it? Is it the same as sending in the states? Would I need two stamps? Any info would be helpful.

Thynight, I do not know where you come from but I will try to answer for the US postal service. You can buy a stamp that will go to just about anywhere for a postage card for around a buck. Of course, inside the US is .46 cents. They have a specific flat rate for greeting cards. I dunno if other posts do that but I would imagine they would.

As far as real name, I dunno if Cityboy-Stl has a specific guideline BUT the real name warning is for folks wanting to maintain complete anonymity. Whatever name you provide, if it arrives at your post box then it should work.

^ You can use any name you want. A PO box address is fine as well. It is up to you. There just needs to be a name and address good enough for the post office to be able to deliver the cards to you.

I'll post some international mail info and rates tomorrow evening when I can get it together. But basically it is no different than domestic mail. It just needs a little more postage.

International postage rates for a Christmas card of normal weight and size, from the U.S. to just about anywhere, are a $1.10. No one on the list is anywhere where that isn't true. You can use the USPS rate calculator at http://ircalc.usps.com/ to see for yourself. If you just have regular cards, $1.10 is going to be the U.S. International rate. The U.S. domestic rate is of course $0.46.

Well bugger, it was a dollar last year I thought....

But I would never miss it for a ten cent piece... ..|

I was going to go to the sight for USPS ... well actually I did but had no clue what the weight of a greeting card was...lol.

Thanks St Louie (*8*)

Fair Warning!

I'm still considering participating again this year! It has been loads of fun in the past!

However, it depends if I survive the next two weeks (which includes the infamous Black Friday). With my promotion at work, my workload has been hellacious (last week was a 65 hour week...ON the clock...which in executive retail world means probably add 35%), I'm short 3 staffers in my department and one of my few reliable people is in a 'delicate condition' (I got called on the carpet last week 'disclosing' the actual condition that should be obvious to anyone with actual eyeballs)...I am SO SICK of the PC Police but that is the subject of a whole other rant but I'm trying to watch my blood pressure...

However, if I DO survive intact I'll submit my info on the last day, so please bear with me...

(I am SO over the Christmas music already...there's some stupid Mariah Carey (sic?) song that drives me nuts...it sounds like she's killing her cat or something...)

I'm thinking if I participate it will restore some of the wonder and joy of the season...but at the moment all I want to do is torch a Christmas tree or something......
