The difference is that Markey is a current US Congressman. Where did Keyes live when he ran for Senate?

I probably should have been more specific - this was the Illinois 2004 Senate race. The Republican who hoped to sit in the North end of the U. S. Capitol for the next six years, Alan Keyes (who was I believe living in Maryland AT THE TIME), was put on the Illinois ballot.

Same as Hilliary Clinton in 2000 -- she lived in DC and ran for office in NY a state she never lived in.

Ed Markey wins..race was closer then I thought it would be though.

Thankfully this is only till 2014. I pray that he doesn't run for reelection. Would love Patrick to step up to the plate but I think he wants AG.
