Last week's stats had UK in the #2 position. Apparently, there's a new variant (AY.4.2) in the UK that is driving up cases there. PCR testing has shown that the new variant accounts for about 6% of the new cases in the UK.

A newly-discovered mutation of the delta variant is being investigated in the U.K. amid worries that it could make the virus even more transmissible and undermine Covid-19 vaccines further.

Still, there are many unknowns surrounding this descendent or subtype of the delta variant — formally known as AY.4.2 — which some are dubbing the new "delta plus" variant.

U.K. government health officials have said it's too early to tell whether the mutation poses a greater risk to public health than the delta variant, which itself is significantly more infectious than the original Covid-19 strain (and its successor, the alpha variant).

I've been getting so tired of hearing from anti-vaxers that unvaccinated people don't help new variants spread more than vaccinated folks. It shows up on several right-wing sites, and they are always so stubborn against listening to science at all.

I’m getting tired of listening to anti-Vaxers saying the vaccine will kill you. There’s only been 3 confirmed cases from blood clots, which could have been prevented.

The most counter-intuitive and just-plain-ignorant statement is when I hear people say, "The vaccines are experimental and we don't know if they are safe".

As of last week, 407,446,961 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the US. Worldwide, 6,761,687,711 people have been administered different COVID-19.

In the US, Moderna is administered under an EUA. Pfizer was administered for people over age 16 under EUA for nearly 10 months (and for children age 12-15, Pfizer is still under EUA). When a medication is being administered under an EUA, it is given under strict guidelines and patients closely monitored.

If 407,446,961 got ANY medication and there were side effects or adverse events, we would have known about it now.

Meanwhile, you can buy CBD products all over the US. There's no standard dosage for over-the-counter CBD products and no studies have been done on the effectiveness of these products.... and there's no adverse event reporting available for CBD. Yet, there are no anti-CBD memes to be found.

They believe all those who have been vaccinated can start dropping dead or mutating any time: the "experimental phase" will not be over for them until they get bored of resisting the thought of accepting this vaccine like they have always accepted the rest of vaccines, chemicals and social, government and religious mandates from Adam.

I haven't heard that one for a while. Last time I did, I told the guy, "A vaccine given to ten thousand people for just a month is experimental. A vaccine given to ten million people over ten months with barely any side effects is proven." His response was jaw-dropping: "They haven't given that many shots, that's just propaganda".

Serbia has reported 1,111,957 cases, 9,634 deaths. Their deaths are believed to be under-reported since they reported 186,315 cases and 1,474 deaths in just the past 28 days.

Most of the monitoring agencies have dropped reporting on China because they don't report their actual numbers.
