I'm afraid you are right about this. For the first time I'm giving real, serious consideration to escaping the U.S. out of fear. How sad is that? Canada seems impossible due to immigration restrictions for someone my age. I've joked about it in a couple other threads, but actually I'm pretty serious about Germany where it's now illegal to be a Nazi. Immigration to Germany is much easier und ich lerne jetzt Deutsch zu sprechen. We will see what happens in the coming year, but it is on the table.

Pfizer and Moderna vaccines could bring about false positives through the generation of protein N antibodies, used to detect infections in vaccinated people, which means maybe parameters should be changed.

In the US, boosters for people with certain medical conditions were recommended a few weeks back.

The FDA just approved a third shot booster for anyone over age 18. The CDC is expected to approve the change. Currently, only 16% of people who are vaccinated have gotten their third shot.

Last year, we saw the biggest surge after the holidays when people started gathering for the holidays between Thanksgiving and New Years. If it's been 6 months since your last shot and you haven't gotten your third shot, this would be a good time to get one. If you're over age 65 or if you have a medical condition that affects your immunity (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, history of cancer treatment, etc) you don't have to wait for CDC approval of this latest change- you are already eligible under the October booster guidelines.

The US Food and Drug Administration on Friday authorized boosters of the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines for all adults.

The agency expanded emergency use authorization for booster doses of both the mRNA vaccines beyond who was previously eligible; boosters had been authorized for anyone 65 and older who was vaccinated with the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines at least six months ago and for certain adults at high risk of infection or of severe disease...

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's vaccine advisory committee will meet Friday to discuss expanding booster eligibility. Boosters could officially be administered to all adults after CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky signs off on a recommendation.

Got my booster, a Pfizer dose to go with my two Moderna ones. Got home, took a nap, woke up seemingly side-effect free.

Until I needed to actually do something with my left arm more than just typing or holding a book, then all at once it felt like I'd been kicked in the shoulder. The ache was severe enough I had to change the way I sleep in order to get to sleep, and this morning it isn't a whole lot better.

Nice to have it taken care of, anyway.

Update: I now feel like I have the flu -- achy muscles, mild nausea, slight dizziness, even runny nose. Plus no appetite.

The ache was severe enough I had to change the way I sleep in order to get to sleep, and this morning it isn't a whole lot better.

I also felt pain (at the injection site) for 3 days when I got my second dose of Pfizer in July. I had to sleep on the opposite side (of the injection site). I probably will get my Pfizer booster shot in January 2022 (under the new rule)

Last night I felt like a furnace; getting under the blankets in bed felt like climbing under an electric blanket turned up to "high".

This morning I feel okay unless I try to move fast, though I've got a continuous low-level headache and mild muscle weakness. I just went outside for a while hoping the cold air would help the headache, but instead it just made things worse. So I'm typing slowly and hoping the headache fades; I have to haul a trailer-full of trash this afternoon.
