37% of men had at least one homosexual experience

Funny, I'm one man who has had 100% homo experiences.....

I think with the new generation who grew up with the internet of porn the number has gone up.
Certainly more guys who say they are curious than say 30 years ago.

I have to agree. But I wouldn't put the actual figure of the number of guys who have acted out on it as higher than Kinsey.

I suspect that Kinsey counted in all the men who had masturbated with another male present, including the kind of mutual jerking off that high school and college guys might do even though they will go on to be exclusively heterosexual.

I know that most of the guys that I jerked off with certainly moved on to being hetero.

Mores the pity in a couple of cases.

I think it's likely gone down for exactly the same reason. Every guy can get any kind of porn in the privacy of his own bedroom. The days are gone where 6 guys would crowd around and jerk off to the same nudie magazine stolen from one of their older brothers and having one of these "homosexual experiences."

^ This actually makes total sense when you think about it.

Eh, probably both right. More guys might say they're curious because hey, porn is plentiful so they try it and shrug their mental shoulders; meanwhile, the 'Where's the Sear's Catalog' company of the olden days can breath a sigh of relief that they're probably being just a little less misunderstood.

Note the criticism of Kinsey's methodology and the probable "volunteer bias" and "self-selection". That, and the fact that the number includes the sort of mutual jerking off that often takes place among teenage men, leads most observers to conclude that 37% is much too high should not be taken seriously.

Not my experience with guys today---for example 30 years ago the odds of a straight guy seeing anal with 2 guys was zero---out of sight out of mind---if you see something long enough and you can get all the pussy you want---it's easier to become curious---to try something different. Every young guy I know has anal curiosity---100% true story---about 8 young straight guys where horsing around at the gym last week---they were goofing on a guy who finally found a girl to play with ass---they were laughing because he finally found a girl who would stick a toy in his ass and he was complaining that now his ass hurt. The guys were all laughing at him---now not saying he had gay sex---but I doubt if 30 years ago a guy even thought of ass play.

Actually, you might want to ask a nurse. They'd know if there's been an uptick of men getting things lost in their ass through the decades. Someone here has to be in the profession, yes? I'm kinda curious about how high the spike was after Fifty Shades o'Shit came out.

yeah and it means nothing. people fool around all the time. you can eat pussy and be as gay as a 2 dollar bill.

Its way more than 37%.At least 50% of men had tried sex with men.Keep in mind that male homosexuality is seen as the worst sexual orientation. So,its not surprising that most men who had sex with men still claims to be straight. They just dont wanna go through what gay men goes through. The prejudices, the stereotypes, the hate, the insults and the stigma that comes with being gay.Its way too heavy for them to handle all this. So,they take the easier way.The straight way.

The Kinsey scale is very clear and spot on.The Kinsey scale basically says that most people are bi with different degrees.Bi people represent at least 80% of the population.About 8% are totally straight and about 8% are totally gay.The 4% left are a mix of asexual, pansexual and others.Sexuality is very fluid. It always change. You can have sex needs for women today and sex needs for men tomorrow.

The closet is full of gay men. But,theres way more bi men in the closet. Most bi men tends say that they are either are straight or gay. But,they are bi.The bi shaming is very common.Mostly with bi men.

Half men in straight porn are bi.Most men in gay porn are bi.Even gay porn stars who claims to be gay, says they have sex with women for fun.Bisexuality is way more common than people thinks.People just refuse to see it.We live in a bi world disguised as straight.

Most people are Kinsey 1,2,4 and 5.Kinsey 3 people are rare.Since its those who are as much into men as into women. Most bi people are either more into men or more into women.

100% straight people and 100% gay men are a minority. Most people are bi.Most people have the potential to be sexually into both genders. If homophobia would not exist.Bisexuality would be the norm by now.

All you claims are from opinions.
More research is needed :)

I agree with Marco Sensual, that it's more likely that 50% of men have tried gay sex rather than 37%. As Marco said, admitting to gay sex is not something a lot of men like to do. Unless you hook up all of the men in your study to a lie detector test, you are likely to never get a true answer.

He did. Well, almost. If I recall correctly, the lowest class of homosexual behavior, and the one responsible for the bulk of these 37%, was mutual masturbation. Not just jerking off in the presence of your friend from school, but jacking HIM off.

There's an enormous gap between behaviour, and the role attached to a behaviour.

Eating spaghetti does not make one Italian.

Labels have a well established habit of addressing the bias of an observer that says little, or nothing of the human person beyond their sexual life.
"The classification of sexual behavior as masturbatory, heterosexual, or homosexual, is, therefore, unfortunate if it suggests that only different types of persons seek out or accept each kind of sexual activity. There is nothing known in the anatomy or physiology of sexual response and orgasm which distinguishes masturbatory, heterosexual, or homosexual reactions"....
¬ Alfred Kinsey

You really need to define "gay sex", the "I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours" and "I dare you to touch it" routine that many young boys indulge in imo is not gay sex or same sex behavior as we would think of it, it's little boys being little boys.

Then you have to ask how many post pubescent boys had their same sex encounters in an institutional setting, where I was at the percent was probably as high as 80% if you include the bigger kids who sought gratification but did not reciprocate.

Also, there are those who just in the course of growing up in a normal environment that engaged but would never admit to it even in a blind survey for fear that it would somehow be revealed.

I would guess that the 37% number might be close, but it does not reflect how many guys are gay or even capable of gay sex as an adult.

^But, they're talking specifically about what men have done/will do as consenting adults, aren't they?
