I won't get it now, but I may wait until Apple fixes all of the bugs that the phone will surely have, include a keyboard, removable battery, 3G data connection, GPS, TV out, a higher resolution camera, etc.
This made me change my mind about getting it. Thanks god I found this Forbes article.
These nine alternatives for an Iphone seem pretty cool
I am happy with my Pocket PC (loaded with music, videos, porn, pictures) for now.
You can tell an article is 99% FUD (Fear Uncertainty and Doubt) when it has more questions than answers. In other words, by asking a question, it implies a problem, but doesn't actually go out on a limb and say it's a problem. FUD.
BTW, many of the "problems" it brings up simply aren't true.
For example, the screen is glass, unlike any other phone, so it's actually
less resistant to scratches than a Treo or Crackberry.
Another example: the plans were announced today and start for as little as 60 bucks a month
including unlimited data.
Another example: you replace the battery just like millions upon millions of iPod users do. Apple will replace it for a fee. The price you pay for a sleek package and unbeatable software.
Another example: battery life is better than most other advanced phones.
Another example: The article claims that the 2.5G network is too slow, but then goes on to say you don't want to use the WiFi??? Huh? Most people will view the 2.5G network as simply a backup for when you don't have WiFi available, which in most major cities isn't often. (Unfortunately, though, places like Panera
ban JUB forums, but that would affect any WiFi device, not just an iPhone).
The iPhone is a great device for people who need an iPod, a PDA, and e-mail/web access constantly. Like me.
For people who don't need all that, obviously, the iPhone is severe overkill. It's not for everybody.
