On-Topic 5 Nations Condemn Israel's Settlement" Plan

I love how pre-emptive strikes are only justifiable when it comes from the US and it's allies.

Right? Japan didn't actually start WWII in the Pacific. They just launched a pre-emptive strike. The U.S. started it now.

I wonder how people would take it if Iran attacked Israel as a pre-emptive strike (since it's pretty clear Israel will attack them in the near future).

Re: 5 Nations Condemn Israel's Settlement" Plan

Thank you for acknowledging your error.

There was no error. Egpt was massively arming its border with Israel, obviously preparing to invade. Ergo, they started the war.

That's more than a little sophomoric.

I'm using your own qualification, Henry. Since you're employing a massive double standard to claim Israel didn't start a war, they just did a "pre emptive strike."

The quote function isn't working for me for some reason, so here goes a multi-quote done the old fashioned way....

Post 227, Geiri asked:

When did it all become Israeli land?
Post 228, HR replied:

When Israel was attacked without provocation, the six day war began.
Post 239, I responded:

Sorry, but this revisionist history is not going to fly: Israel struck first in the Six Day War. They raided Syrian positions, and struck Egyptian airfields, before either of those countries had fired a shot.

Post 241, HR stated:

It was a pre-emptive strike.

So in 243, I said:

Thank you for acknowledging your error.
Then in 246 HR claimed:

There was no error. Egypt was massively arming its border with Israel, obviously preparing to invade. Ergo, they started the war.

In other words, HR, you've made a second admission of your error. You said that Israel was "attacked without provocation", but now you agree that Israel attacked first. That's a concession of error.

As I said before, whether Israel's action in attacking first was justified is another matter. What it doesn't change is the fact that Israel struck first.

Geez, you guys go from sophomoric to sophistry and back again. Have fun amusing yourselves.

Re: 5 Nations Condemn Israel's Settlement" Plan

@ Geiri:

Some might argue that if Israel attacks Iran, Iran would be justified in wiping out West Bank settlements: both having the alleged nuclear weapons program and establishing those settlements can be argued as being illegal under international law or custom.

So Korea and Vietnm idn't happen in moern times.
...
It doesn't want all those socalled palestinian refugees back either. In fact, nobody seems to want them.
There must be an underlying reason.

Israel took it from Jordan, which does not it back.

It's a headache trying to read the grammar of you two. Would it be too much to ask you to spell check your work and proofread it, at least once, before posting?
