8 GOP Candidates to Speak During Anti-Gay Hatecast

Without bothering to dicuss ancient history, it remains true that by unnecessarily attacking marriage as most people understand it, gays have stirred up avoidable hostility. Doing so has set gays back a generation or more.

Actually it gave gays equal footing under the law and no more set gays back then it set back blacks and people in mixed race relationships back by allowing interracial marriage and they used the same arguments against it that are being used against gays.

Yes because a generation or more ago we had marriage equality. What the fuck ever.

Benvolio, as a gay hater, doesn't realize we demand equality, and could give a fuck what his precious haters have to say.

I don't want the "acceptance" of bigots Ben, I DEMAND equality before the law, and if some whining haters get all pussyhurt, so be it.

BEAT ME TO IT!!!!!

Benvolio doesn't want to discuss history because it utterly impeaches just about everything he ever has to say.

Exactly TX-Beau I could care less what bigots think about me. I shit on their opinions what matters to me is equality before the law.

This thread is a long complaint about what people think of us.

Well when our politicians are for denying us equal rights this should be spoken about and it shows why LGBT people should not support the Republican party for their theocratic desires. As I mentioned many of these candidates attended and supported people who wish to kill gays like Tony Perkins who thanks to his machinations Uganda is making a law to kill homosexuals. However me personally I don't support the Democratic party either as they pretty much kiss ass to Islam and throw women's rights, LGBT rights etc out the window. If you are a woman, LGBT, a Pagan or an Atheist you are pretty much on your own in the West as the right is on the side of Christianity and the left is on the side of Islam.

AMEN!!!!

I have been saying this for as long as I remember...fuck the approval and acceptance...I damn sure don't approve of or accept the bigots ...and it is bad manners to ask for something you are not willing to give ....

BUT..equality under the law...fuck yeah! ...and I would and DO support equality under the law..even for bigots...even when it is not popular...

I'm continually amazed at the way haters just assume we want their approval.

So that would be why polls show a majority of Americans support gay marriage? Because recent events have set gays back a generation or more?

As for the not bothering bit, that's usually used as a disclaimer by soi-disant conservatives of a certain ilk, who are reluctant to discuss the subject or to have it discussed because they are ignorant on the subject or they know that the evidence doesn't support them.

Glad to see that the others may have realized that this was just not a smart political move.

yup.

this.

Why wouldn't a 'lawyer' who claims to have a PhD know this?
Because PhD = Piled High and Deep.

My point was, that in insisting on changing the traditional definition, gays unecessarily increased the hortility against them. And it is wrong to conclude that those who disagree with the change of marriage "hate" gays.

Slipped up again there did you?

Against 'them'.

I see that later on you try to recover by using 'us'....but too late. Once again, it is nakedly clear that you are not one of 'us'.

You are something else, standing on the outside....always identifying with those who hate homos and who would deny civil rights.

And again, you live in this little bubble.

Frankly, equal rights in Canada for homos stopped the hate. It took away the idea that our love and sexuality were something to be used by cynical politicians and the religious right wing as cudgels. People accepted it and moved on, finding that it had no influence whatsoever on their own lives and freedoms.

What is it about the US, that the country that is always touting Freedom and trying to export it around the world at the point of a gun in many instances, can't accept something as simple as fundamental civil rights? Is it only because of the history of slavery and Jim Crow laws where it took more than a century before this shame was grudgingly redressed...and that this has become the model for any advances in equal rights?

Wait, we were discussing this aspect of Ben's persona previously:

I have no idea how he even treats other branches of Christianity (Catholicism) as some kind of strange, foreign force.

I guess that's one way to spot a closeted pastor.

I suppose you mean that certain gay-hating KKK-leaning Protestant "ministers" who secretly suffer from their — how do they put it? — "homo-perversion"?

Well, that's very probably not an insult in their own cases, but a quite correct description, I guess.

:rotflmao:

This is intended as a serious question. Where equal rights for gays, including the right to marry, achieved in Canada through the democrat process or imposed by courts?
