8 Things that died out in the 2000s

All of those, but the floppy disk is still common in my area. I see them all the time. I still even get about five new phone books a year and I don't get why.

Yea I get phone books too and I just leave them outside till they get wet and soggy....i think someone throws it away by then.

Answering machines

I remember a few months ago my cell phone was out of power so I had to use a phone booth. First one didn't accept change at all, second one didn't accept my change for whatever reason. 40min later I finally found a phone booth that worked. Cost me a lot of time and nerve..

So they're not really extinct over here and I often see people use them. But common? Certainly not.

Beepers/pagers!

back in the 90s they were the bomb diggidy

I still have an answering machine, and I use it fairly regularly...

I'm just too cheap to pay for voice mail.

I still have an answering machine. Came with my phone.

It helps when I don't wanna talk to someone on the phone but I want to know what they called for.

Gasoline that only cost a dollar a gallon.

The trend for teenaged white boys to act like a completely racist caricature of another race. . .a.k.a Wiggers.

The HD-DVD format. It was supposed to have won out over Blu-Ray, since it was much cheaper and economical to manufacture. . .but even that wasn't enough to save it.

For the record, I still see a lot of parallel port devices because it's faster than the serial ports (and much more durable than USB).

You find parallel port devices on geophysical equipment or some other outdoor electronics that are subjected to stress.
