I decided to get in shape and did some running with my friend 2 days ago. But yesterday and today my legs hurt a bit. Should I wait for the pain to go away or should I run again anyway? This happens with other body parts too. When I work some of my muscles hard after not using them for a long time, they hurt the next day. Should I wait for them to heal or is it ok if I workout again the next day or 2 days later?

You should continue to work out. The pain is caused by lactic acid, which builds up in the body when it isn't active enough. At some point, the pain will start to go away. :-)

You should allow your body a some recovery time. However, that doesn't mean you have to wait until the soreness is completely gone before you workout again. Muscles get broken down during exercise, then repair to a stronger level during recovery. If you don't rest enough, you're more likely to run into injury.

2 days is usually enough time for moderate exertion, but it varies from person to person. If soreness is really intense after 3 days, you probably still need more recovery time. As your workout more, you'll get a better sense of what your body needs. Keep it up!

If it's a just a dull muscle ache, you're good to work through it. If you ever get a really sharp or bad pain, then you should probably stay off it.

I find that doing a light workout helps ease the pain more than doing nothing. In your case I would suggest something like 15 minutes on a bicycle or exercise bike just to get the blood circulating.

It's more like a reminder that I did jogging 2 days ago than pain. It doesn't bother me but I was wondering whether it may be dangerous to exercise before it heals completely or not. Now I see that it's not dangerous. Thanks very much for the replies.

When a friend of mine started running, he took Veriuni Advanced Liquid Nutrition. It helped his vitality and energy levels. The only place you can get it is from TripleClicks. I found a link to it for you.
