Every person has something to offer....but they have to offer it.

There is only one reason to be here and that is from time to time something you read makes sense to you. A lot of LBGTQ people even in 2011 do not have a gay support system. Sometimes what happens in your life helps me; sometimes what happens in your life helps me. The operative word is sometimes. Don't leave, please. You don't have to be super active. What if the guy that needs you most joins tomorrow.

One week ago today I had two rods and 10 screws drilled into my neck. Don't you want to stick around for questions/answers regarding my future sex life?

You can't see any of this hardware so it's not gross, but my partner and I will have experiences to share.

rareboy, I can see your point, that some people get too invested, but at the moment, I am one of those people. (warning, personal rant) After coming out, I no longer have a support system in my 'real world'. 'Friends' of upwards of 7 years have turned their backs, one thought it necessary to call me a fucking faggot, others felt the need to laugh at this...none felt the need to apologize or offer support. So yes, the approval of 'avatars' is more important to me now than maybe it should be, and I'm sure it's the same for others, too. We are not all so lucky as to be blessed with a confident, outgoing demeanor. We are not all so lucky as to be blessed with people who approve of and support us.

As for 'what JUB is about', that is subjective and it differs from person to person. For you it may well be about sharing your ideas and information; for me, it's the only way I can connect with people who will accept and support me right now. When I feel like everything that could possibly go wrong in my life is doing so, and I don't have anyone around to tell me it's going to be okay, JUB is a place packed with amazing people that will do just that.
