  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

a new puka contest? could it be?

1. whats your gender and sexuality?
Male, Gay.

2. whats your top 5 favorite things in life?
#1. My fiance Abe26, I couldn't ask for a better man #2. My family, they are very supportive and love me because I refuse to change who I am. #3. My dog Trip, He's a hoot. He is my buddy and loves to be around me. #4. motorcycles, I had a harley for a long time and had to get rid of it when my former employer didn't pay me for 4 months. #5. Being around good people, I'm a simple guy and I like to be around the same kind of people, good, honest, sincere, and hard working average people.

3. what are your 5 least favorite things in life?
#1. bad drivers #2. bad weather. #3. people with poor attitudes #4. snakes #5. not being able to get married to the man I love in the U.S.A.

4. what do you do? do you have a job? are you a student? and do you enjoy it?
I'm a diesel mechanic for a oilfield drilling company. I work outside most of the time, in all kinds of weather. Even though I am not getting rich, I'm making a living and doing something that I enjoy. I am the fourth generation of Oil field workers in my family, and I am extremely proud that my family has a made a good living and a good name for themselves in such a grueling and competitive industry. I am also a rodeo clown and a bronc rider when I get the chance and when I have the time. Abe doesn't like it much, so I do my best to not worry him and i just tell him I usually don't get hurt, ( which is a small fib) But I don't want him worrying about me when I rodeo. It's something I have done most of my life, and it use to be my job. But now it's just a lunatic's hobby.lol;)

5. why do you want to enter?
I thought it would be fun. I am one of those people that likes to imagine things as he hears them, so as I was reading the description of the prise, I was trying to figure out what it would look like on canvas. I think it would be really cool to see what you could come up with. And when I read the word contest, I had to jump in, I'm a very competitive person by nature and I like winning.

How does one sponsor?
Even though I know nothing more about Underdog than what he writes in his "application" I'll gladly sponsor him...........I like his app............. ;)

Besides............I've always rooted for the underdog...............|

to sponsor you just have to say.. i'll sponsor *whoever*

lol well i'm thinking about waving the whole minimum post count thing anyway... I wanted to get the contest started by this weekend and I was hoping that if if more than 10 people applied I would hold out for 30 contestants that will be in 3 separate threads... and then after a week or 2 I would take the 3 winners and start a 4th thread for people to vote for the one to rule them all

the minimum post count was in place so that the members who enter will at least have an established fanbase of some sort... the fewer posts you have.. the fewer people will know you.. the fewer votes you'll get and the less likely you'll win...

so the minimum post count was to even the playing field a little..

the sponsoring is a way to show that even if the person doesn't have the 1000 post minimum they still have a few members who like them and could vote for them

1. whats your gender and sexuality?
M - homo

2. whats your top 5 favorite things in life?

1) My Green Riders (wow, that's kind of cheating... see how I subtly slipped 2 things in there? :p )

2) My Ukrainian Heritage... My mom has instilled great pride in being Ukrainian... I don't know what I'd do without the music... food... culture... etc. Still working on the language though. Growing up without it makes it a little more difficult, but I'll get there.

3)
Languages... sorta linked to the last (see how I'm making up for the first cheat :D)... I'm learning Ukrainian and German now (German is my other side... but dad didn't really carry on the traditions/culture or anything)... and eventually I have my sights set on Spanish and French. We'll see if there are others when I get that far. Others toying around in my head are Romanian and Polish. Romanian sounds cool... and Polish will be simpler when I know Ukrainian... plus, I like the Poles. Nice neighbours they are.

4) Rain/Thunder Storms... The fresh smell rain brings... the lovely displays thunder makes. I love it! (I can do without killer winds and Tornadoes though).

5) Friends and Family... makes getting through life that much better. They're with me to spice up the boring times... and cheer me up in the not-so-happy-times, and of course to celebrate in the good times... like passing the latest brutal exam.

3. what are your 5 least favorite things in life?

1) University... It's a double edged sword... I HATE the work load I have. I'm at the university more than I'm at home... My usual day is from around 10-10/11 or up to 4/5 if I have a test... I do not enjoy those days. But I do love that I've made some very good friends there. They suffer through it with me.

2) Being called Nathaniel... can't really explain why... my name is Nathan... it always has been... it's its own separate name, so when people call me Nathaniel, it makes me cringe. (no offence intended toward the Nathaniels out there)

3) Imperialist tendencies... no this isn't a barb directed at the States... it's another country... Why can't countries just worry about their own internal affairs and stay out of the governing process of another country. BAH!

4) The fact that when I come out, most of my family will turn away. I'll still have pretty much all of my friends, which is really nice (some already know). But other than one of my sisters, I'm pretty sure my entire immediate family will not want to be around me. Possibly some cousins will be alright, but on the whole, I'll be shoved off on my own. 3 Cheers for religious families.

5) What feminism, and other such things have done to the world. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for equality. My best friends are typically women. (They also understand my "beef" with this)... But when you have scholarships or job applications that list "special status" for instance being able to put: Female, a minority race, etc, and somehow get extra special consideration for a job, there is something wrong.

True equality would disregard this entire part... Every person would be chosen for their own merits, and not some other aspect of themselves that won't help them complete their job any better. When you have to reach certain "quotas" of minority people in a workplace, that's just wrong. I don't care if you have no "special groups" present, or everyone in the office is in a "special group". If they were the applicant(s) that best suited the job, then so be it.

Sorry... I turned a dislike into a rant. Doing applications for scholarships/summer jobs (last year) does that. Nope can't apply to that one... nor that one... nope not that one either. BAH! In a way it's like it's own type of sexism/racism/etc.

(Although yes, sometimes it's relevent... like female support staff for a Centre for Battered Women, etc... depending on the situation they may feel more comfortable in such an environment).

4. what do you do? do you have a job? are you a student? and do you enjoy it?

I'm a full-time student... I'm taking one extra class than is usually allowed... 6 instead of 5... I couldn't fit everything I wanted into just 5 classes, so I got permission to take 6. And I'm also a waiter.

I enjoy both for the most part. It's the people that do that... however there are those days where I just wish I didn't have to go in to work... or didn't have to get up and go to class... like most people I guess.

In university I'm taking something math based... but if I were to truly do what my heart says I should, I'd just be doing languages. However the ones offered here don't compel me enough to do that. I'd need to go to a larger university with better programs.

5. why do you want to enter?

Someone already said how it would be interesting to see your interpretations... this is part of the reason. But I also like art. I had really close friends in high school that were artists... They were some of the best people to be around. I'm still in touch with some, and it's always neat to see what they've been doing.

Haha, I saw some responses thinking, I don't think mine will be long at all... hopefully that doesn't affect anything... but now I think it's the opposite... !oops! hopefully it's not too long. Plus lately I've been hiding... posting very little... so it's a re-introduction of sorts. Although I'll be going into hibernation again for finals right away anyway. #-o

4. what do you do? do you have a job? are you a student? and do you enjoy it?
I'm in social services working primarily with the elderly and the disabled. The nature of my work doesn't lend itself to outright 'enjoyment.' There are days however, when I feel that I've made a difference and for that, I am thankful.

5. why do you want to enter?
First and foremost, I love art. And as I've enjoyed the work you've shared with us before I must admit that I am intrigued at what I might inspire you to do. If I may use my hero's, Mr. Spock, preferred euphemism, "Fascinating." ;)

just so people dun think he was cheating to get in...

Technically, I don't have one thousand posts yet (although I did have over a thousand under my old screenname). Plus, I know no one will vote for me if I somehow advance to the second round. But I wanted to fill out the survey anyway. Hope you don't mind.

1. whats your gender and sexuality?
I'm a gay male.

2. whats your top 5 favorite things in life?
1) My dog. She's a mutt and I got her from an animal shelter.
2) My friends and family. I don't know what I'd do without them.
3) Nice, kindhearted people.
4) Just having fun... Usually by doing something completely ridiculous and immature with my pals.
5) Right now, I'm into cooking. It satisfies my perfectionist tendencies, plus I love food.

3. what are your 5 least favorite things in life?
1) Homophobia/racism/hatred or ignorance in general.
2) When bad things happen to people who don't deserve them.
3) Creepy crawly things (insects, arachnids, etc.)
4) Sports... So boring!
5) Oppressively snowy/icy weather conditions.

4. what do you do? do you have a job? are you a student? and do you enjoy it?
I'm a student, but I'm taking some time off of school until next fall. I have an administrative office job which isn't the most exciting thing, although I do work with cool people so it isn't completely unpleasant.

5. why do you want to enter?
Hmm, I appreciate art (I was voted most artistic in my senior class), I'm a fan of yours, and I like to win stuff.

ok fuck... 22 applications are in... i was hoping for 30 so I can open up 3 threads to vote.. then 3 the winners (the person with the highest percentage of votes) would go head to head in a 4th thread and the final winner would be decided... BUT with only 22 applications I dunno how I will do that.. I can do a few different things here...

1) I can bump out one of the people who applied based on low post counts... and then open up 3 threads with 7 contestants each

or

2) I can wait for 2 more applications and open 3 polls with 8 contestants each

OR

3) i can just wait till I have 30 applications (8 more)

dunno what to do

OOOOOOH Puka....i see you've resorted to other ways of getting attention.

I figured as much since i wiped the floor with you on JUB Chat IDOL!

Being runner-up isn't that bad, but even being number 2, your chances are slim.

but good luck anyway BFF! :p
