That's good news when recalling how deep, and wide is the diabetes epidemic now sweeping the Western world.

I appreciate that there are other companies offering similar treats to expand the waist line, and clog up the arteries.

That doesn't necessarily mean that Hostess is going to go away, but it gives me cause to wonder how how they got into this situation in the first place. The only Hostess product I buy is the occasional (maybe 2 or 3 bags per year) of Hickory Sticks, but there are always plenty of other products available in the Junk Food aisle.

....Here in the U.K., we have lost many different lovely tasty things due to the economic recession...........its terrible.
.........Why do all the things that taste yummy always the things that are bad for you?...................

My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

There was an episode of Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations" where he was in Cleveland. It was an old Hostess factory and there were pipes still filled with the cream they put in twinkles. It was still "good" but the rats wouldn't even go near it. How bad can it be if rats turn their noses up at something?

Don't worry Guys Rosie O'Donnell will bail them out...

everyone knows that Little Debbies are the best junk snake cakes ;)

Oh, no. I'm from Philadelphia. Tastykakes rule.

But they, too, had financial troubles and were recently bought by Flowers Baking. At least they're staying around.

I remember the really, really old days when their fruit pies were my favorite and they actually had real fruit in them. Now, they just contain gloop.

I cut much of that stuff out of my diet a long time ago

Never had the Hickory Sticks. My Dad,(who was actually pretty well disciplined) would buy a package of Hostess Pink Snowballs every day to have something sweet with his lunch. He would only eat one of them, and he brought the other one home to me every day when I was a little boy.....:)

I remember those. Not sure if they're still sold up here, though. They came in packages of two. Sort of a half snowball. I can't remember the filling, but I remember the pink coconut outside.

Remember the Hostess commercials from the 1970s?

They got actress Ann Blyth to push Hostess snack cakes.....(circa 1970)

By 1976, "Hostess and kids...they go together!"

They may have been unhealthy, but they sure were fun! :D

Twinkies came to Australia in the 90s... stayed or a year or two and then I never saw them again.
