that all business is good business especially with people who won't listen to

Seth,you have been more than patient.This guy's efforts simply do harm to your bottom line and thusly this site and our enjoyment of it.We can support anyone we want in our own time outside of JUB,but while we log in here everything that can be done to support this site,like subscribing to the movie service JUB provides instead of any outside ones being promoted.He really doesn't give a lick about the JUB community as a whole,just siphoning business from us.He really doth protest too much.

I think that I may be one of the people that he thinks that supports him. I really don't understand why. He did hijack a thread that I posted in and what I posted about in that thread had nothing to do with his post. He PM'ed me and thanked me for supporting him in that thread. I just do not know what to say about that. I just tried to PM him to look at the response from a mod in that post and he told me that the answer was not sufficient for him. I then told him that I did not fully understand the situation but that I was sure that there was a good reason for it and that he should ask a MOD or the owners.

I do apologize if that made things worse.

Ok non supporter weighing in.
Umm you've been more than nice with this person trying to explain the why's and he doesn't get it.
You don't see a Chevy wearing a Ford badge.

Perhaps an even better analogy is that this member is constantly going onto a Chevy lot and sticking ford pamphlets on all the cars. Funnily enough the chevy car yard staff keep removing them.

Commercial reality. Chevy car lots are not going to allow any nice meaning person to advertise a competing brand.

Yeah, it really makes no sense to me either. If they are truly just linking to movies to help out the JUB membership, then why not link to the JUB version. The colors look like the JUB site. So what? The content is the exact same.

The only reason to link to the other version it seems to me is if there is a personal interest in doing so, like they are getting a cut.

Some people, Seth, have imbibed a mind-set promoted by the Free-Software movement and so on. They may be just innocent bystanders, just "users" and they get that everything-free on the net line and don't understand that it's a LOT OF WORK; that it's not a part-time hobby.
There are sites that are like hobbies, I guess. But they're actually rare. It's a lot of work!!! The WWW would be vastly smaller and poorer without the efforts of people like you and JD.

So, I guess, link the esteemed gentlemen to this thread and hope he'll get the message. We wouldn't want him taking the idea of a "Free Country" too far and meeting injury from folks far less understanding than you guys.

Almost. For the other thread he created two different users to talk to himself about JUBs censorship. Oh and those were the only two supporting him.

being a mere village idiot, i just do not see where this member in question thinks his position is going to get him. tis pure and simple, his links in his posting are diverting "funds" earned by JUB to someone else - namely the link this guy is associated with.

an explanation has been given to this gentleman in several different ways and he is just not willing to acknowledge that he is in the wrong and he is defending an indefensible position.

if the said member is that dis-satisfied with what the rules of the game are here and what the business practices JUB must follow to allow its continued existence for the rest of us members, then maybe the said member should be invited and or told to leave.

seems to me that is a reasonable response to this situation. Seth i think you have done an excellent job of presenting this matter to the members, supporters or not and they have given their responses.

as of this posting i still have not seen any member(s) coming forward to defend the position of this said member which should be an indication to him that, to put it simply, he is wrong - now all he has to due is acknowledge it to himself.

Sure, as members, we have many, many inputs, ie, a MOD controlled board to control people's rants toward each other, etc; but when the basic rules are still controlled by the OWNERS; NOT the members.

You have gone very far to explain your position. This while I strongly believe you do not have to explain anything to anyone. But my experience on JUB is that you always come clean and respond to any concerns re JUB politics, changes etc.

I am one of those "It's my site, my rules" supporter.

Hats off to you for not cutting him off. However if he continues to drag his tail, like he is doing, see if you can't catch it as you close the door on this clever at playing dumb, individual.
