I was not even alive when the first "V" was on television, but my dad loved it. When I saw the trailer and sneak peeks, I was excited. I feel the fans of the original, but it looks promising.

The only setback seems to be ABC is going to show the first 4 episodes and then resume airing the show AFTER the Winter Olympics which doesn't bode well for most shows.

Has anyone else been following the "re-imagination" of the original? I blindly submit to shows involving space until having seen the first episode or two, I love space and extraterrestrials.

Hallowed are the Ori, er I mean: We come in peace, always.

Hiatuses killed both Dirty Sexy Money and Pushing Daisies just last year. Why ABC would CHOOSE to do it again I have no clue because really who cares about the Olympics anymore?

As for V I'll watch it if only for Elizabeth Mitchel. I'm hopeful though. I like high concept pieces normally.

^ Elizabeth Mitchell is going to be the only reason I'm watching it too, although my viewing it isn't going to be taken into account when it comes to axing it or not... That will be decided before I even get to see it.

I am looking forward to it, though, am hoping it will be a decent show.

I was a big fan of the original miniseries (also a fan of Marc Singer who was one of the main characters throughout the franchise). I liked the Final Battle. And when the series launched shortly after I watched it, too. Sadly it was short lived.

I was a fan of the miniseries and the weekly show, back when, but my questions are these...

Is there some reason that something new isn't being developed? Must we have constant remakes of past productions? For fuck's sake, is there no originality left?

Originality is not fiscally responsible. The people making these things aren't trying to make good shows/movies. They're trying to make products that will yield a return on their investment and when you can invest in a remake that you're sure will return profits even if it contributes nothing to the arts that's what you do.

You never know, this show could be surprising in that way - I know it's a remake but they can still have some originality with the other concepts while it is still the same story.

I actually have no idea what I'm saying... I need to sleep so if that sounds like gibberish that's my excuse. ..|

No that doesn't sound like gibberish (and I should know - I am fluent in it, having learned the language so I can communicate with the horde of Gibbers living in the caves near my home). It sounds like wishful thinking. But who knows, maybe someone attached to the "creation" of the new show will take a chance and be a bit creative without butchering the original story. Sadly when they adapted the Sword of Truth series of novels to make a tv show out of it, they got creative and shredded the story completely. I would hate to see that kind of butchery happrn to V

Been waiting a while for this. I loved the original. (!)
I doubt it will be as good but I still am looking forward to it.

V is my fav TV show of all time.

I read V The Second Generation a few months back and enjoyed it.

Pretenama to you all. (yes I am a Nerd, and proud of it)

I've never watched it, so it won't make any difference whether they change the story or not anyway! lol

Sorry cowboy, no idea what you said. :( But I'll probably be hooked since it deals with aliens.

Nerd no, confused yes. There is nothing PRETty about an ENEMA!! :p

Thank you. Thank you very much.

Glad you liked it.

So has there been any word yet on possible cast?

I used to lay in bed late at night when I was a teenager and jack off thinking about Marc Singer.

I really hope they don't take out the old Jewish Grandfather who survived the Holocaust. He was the one who came up with "V" to begin with. He was one of the coolest characters on the show.

Sorry Jasun they have changed the story and characters.

Premise
Giant spaceships appear over all major cities of the world, the alien "Visitors" claiming to come in peace. As some humans begin to doubt the sincerity of the Visitors, Homeland Security agent Erica Evans discovers that the aliens have spent decades infiltrating human governments and businesses and are now in the final stages of their plan to take over the planet. Erica joins the resistance movement, which includes Ryan, a Visitor sleeper agent who wants to save humanity. However, the aliens have won favor among the people of Earth by curing a variety of diseases, and have recruited Earth's youth, including Erica's son, to serve unknowingly as spies.

Cast
The cast list was officially announced by ABC on May 19, 2009:[5]

Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans
Morris Chestnut as Ryan Nichols
Joel Gretsch as Father Jack Landry
Lourdes Benedicto as Valerie Stevens
Logan Huffman as Tyler Evans
Morena Baccarin as Anna, the leader of the Visitors
Laura Vandervoort as Lisa, a Visitor
Scott Wolf as Chad Decker, a reporter
Alan Tudyk as Dale Maddox (FBI investigator); Tudyk stars in the pilot episode,[6] but was not listed as a main cast member by ABC.

From Wikipedia.

Sounds like the story wasn't really changed all that much, just updated. Although the visitor sleepers is a new touch. On another note, it sounds like Elizabeth Mitchell is taking on Marc Singer's role, but instead of being a hotshot news reporter, she's an HS Agent (something that didn't exist at the time of the original).

Oh well, it'll probably still be worth watching.

BTW, Allan Tudyk is listed with the rest of the cast on IMDB (always more accurate than wiki) and they all are listed for 1 episode so far. Imdb has the show set to air on Nov 3 on ABC.

Re: ABC's V
