Adam Lambert [merged]

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

American Idol season 8 runner up Adam Lambert was on Early Show this morning after his Good Morning America performance got canceled because of the American Music Awards controversy. He performed two new songs of his debut album in stores today which were "Whatya Want From Me" & "Music Again" and did an interview. In the interview (seen above) he gave his now form responses to the questions about the controversial performance on the AMAs:

1. Adam admits that ABC was taken by surprise by his “impromptu” moves which he did not do during rehearsal (simulated oral sex, kissing a guy, etc.)
2. It did not cross his mind that children could be watching
3. He is unapologetic about offending people (he repeated his: “I’m not a baby sitter” comment)
4. He said that because he is a gay male that people have a double standard against him (even as the interviewer smartly pointed out people complained about the “venue” not him being gay)
5. he said: “Sometimes I forget the camera is on.”

Sheez really? think the camera is off? I smell bullshit..

Re: Adam Lambert's Album Cover

I am hoping beyond all hope that he falls flat on his face

Well I'm not an Adam fan but it ain't happening. His album is on track for 200k+ sales first week, which is more than double the winner Kris Allen's.

I agree. However, I think it's vindictive and spiteful to wish that someone "falls flat on his face." I personally think he'd do better if he kept his integrity and stopped trying to shock people.

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

I know I am coming off pretty harsh. But don't think I am being harsh towards you, just being harsh toward the situation.
This has nothing to do with you buddy, I am just showing you and expressing where I think it failed. Cool?

Oh, OK? I have never implied that you were personally attacking me. We just happen to disagree over this matter, as people often do. Anyway, this discussion has outstayed its welcome - Adam's silly antics on the AMA stage don't merit so much fuss. I just wanted to let you know that, in overall, it has been a rather enjoyable discussion... Cheers! :D

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

yes i won't comment or read this thread again.
After thinking about all the posts here, its clear he does nothing for gay people except make them appear like diva bitches and he cannot sing.

Re: Adam Lambert's Album Cover

So they both fell flat on their faces. Neither amount is impressive in any way and after the amount of hype that Lambert gets, to only sell 200 thou is pathetic.

Actually, in the current economic climate that is pretty good for a new artist imo.

John Mayer only sold 300k this week with his new album and he has about 3757385x more talent than either of these guys.

Once the numbers for this week are finalized wonder what his ranking will be for first week sales for 2009. does he have a shot at top 10?

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

As an appendix to further illustrate that those among us who consider Adam's claims about homophobia in the media to be legitimate, are doing something more than merely crying wolf, it is worth to note that the clip showing Adam Lambert's kiss during the AMAs was blurred during the broadcasting of CBS' 'The Early Show'. Conversely, Madonna and that vile creature Britney Spears were shown French kissing a few seconds later.

The half apology that they have issued is nothing short of laughable, quite frankly.

"We gave this some real thought. The Madonna image is very familiar and has appeared countless times, including many times on morning television. The Adam Lambert image is a subject of great current controversy, has not been nearly as widely disseminated and, for all we know, may still lead to legal consequences."

Link: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sho...-of-adam-lamberts-kiss-on-the-early-show.html

So, the fact that something appears countless times on television, makes it acceptable... Especially if the cause of the controversy are two women kissing. However, a man kissing another man may lead to legal consequences (?!?!!!), which would encourage limiting its diffusion.

Oh, but I agree with most of you: any gay man who doesn't go out of his way to behave like the prototypical straight male, so as not to awaken the furious homophobia that most people can barely control, is to blame for the lack of acceptance suffered by the gay community. It's not the ignorance, arrogance and stupidity of straight people. It's us, because we don't hate ourselves enough as to deny what we are, and keep demanding our right to express ourselves in as many ways as we desire.

Let's make a communal act of contrition by flagellating ourselves to control out faggotry and immolating a few effeminate gay men to the Divinities of Straightness.

By the way, shouldn't Adam be the first victim? After all, he's the one responsible for setting us back a hundred years by simulating fellatio and kissing another guy!

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

As for Christina, she cannot even touch anything above the tenor range without sounding like she's dying. Adam is belting G5s and mixes up to Bb5 quite well. Those three cows can't even dream about reaching those heights in full, connected voice.

Two things...First, Adam has not performed nearly as much as those aforementioned "divas" you mentioned. If he continues to sing the way he does, he probably won't either; his voice naturally is not very durable anyway. Second, Christina Aguilera has never even touched a tenor note. Your scales are off.

Back to Adam Lambert.

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

Pokaman, the tenor range covers, most often, the two octaves ranging from c to cii (C3-C5). These are the notes that Christina Aguilera is comfortable singing in. Anything above C5 (and even C5 most of the time), seems to be torture for her. Singing even in the upper alto range isn't easy for her at all. My scales are perfectly fine, thank you.

Second, Adam has performed in musical theatre, which is a million times more demanding than pop singing. If he has survived the gruelling demands of that environment, I am sure that he will be fine. Céline, Mariah and most pop singers are massively overrated.

Stacy - a token gay relationship in a soap opera doesn't make an institution gay friendly. At least, not gay friendly enough to be open to anything that doesn't lie within the confines of demure banality, such as in Adam's case.

I have to wonder, thus, what the regal problems arising from showing Adam's kiss would be? And please, don't come to me that a "forced" kiss during a tacky performance could be the cause of it. If the keyboardist hasn't expressed his desire to sue, he must have understood that Adam wanted to be transgressive in a rather absurd manner. Better than some of you, apparently.

And yes, the performance was distasteful and the song is dull at best. Fine. Does that merit all this ridiculous talk about people like him being guilty for prejudices against gays? No. He made a mistake, but the reaction has been completely out of proportion with the magnitude of what he did. For fuck's sake, he didn't rape anyone on stage. It was a poor attempt at transgression, not some sort of sexual terrorism.

I don't believe that he is a victim. I KNOW he is. Firstly, of his own bad judgement but, secondly (and most importantly), of people's prejudices and the irrational fear that many gay people have of making themselves noticeable, dreading reprisals. I haven't fallen for anyone's attempts at manipulating the situation. I am stating that Adam is a victim of discrimination, both from straight bigots and insolidary gay people.

CBS Defends Decision to Blur Adam Lambert Kiss

CBS Defends Decision to Blur Adam Lambert Kiss

Nov 26, 2009 11:14 AM ET by Adam Bryant

CBS' The Early Show is standing by its decision to blur the image of Adam Lambert kissing his male keyboard player during the American Idol runner-up's American Music Awards performance.

The Early Show, which added Lambert to its Wednesday lineup of guests after ABC's Good Morning America canceled his scheduled appearance on its show, came under fire for intentionally blurring the image when discussing the controversy that the performance and the kiss created. The Early Show did not, however, edit the image of Madonna and Britney Spears kissing at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, as the discussion turned to other controversial performances.

Do you believe them?

Re: CBS Defends Decision to Blur Adam Lambert Kiss

Admit it, watching Adam Lambert pash a male keyboard player is nowhere near as a hot as watching a 50-odd year old jam her tongue down Britney's throat.

They’re on par for me.!oops!

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

Just a little FYI

The station you are claiming is homophobic for blurring out the gay kiss on the AMA footage

Yeah, CBS

They're the station that is showing a loving relationship between two gay men, young gay men at that, on daytime television, including several kisses between the two.

Get your facts straight before you go claiming homophobia and discrimination on television.

I don't care if they're showing gay porn during daytime television, that doesn't make the censorship of Lambert's kiss any less homophobic.

Re: C'mon, why is no one giving Adam Lambert credit for his performance?

Of all the things, Adam has said...

>>>5. he said: “Sometimes I forget the camera is on.”

...I find this one the hardest one to believe.

Re: CBS Defends Decision to Blur Adam Lambert Kiss

They know it's indefensible what they're doing, but they have to try anyway regardless of how transparent their actual reasons are.
