Al-Qaida has rebuilt...

You can try to make me a extremist if you wish,Andreus and Alfie. I don't care, actually. I know the truth about myself and about you. As for Iraq not wanting their own democracy. Then explain why participated in voting in the first edemocratic election in their country's history. They risked their lives to vote. I watched an old woman go out to vote on crutches and as a social liberal i was very touched.. As partisan lemmings in a political game neither of you are good at,i'm sure that old lady meant nothing to you unless you saw her and got pissed off. As for that stupid talking point about me not being in Iraq, please tell me why i can't have an opinion about Iraq yet you think you can?Are you over there?Do you actually have yourselves convinced that you're special?

Perhaps they voted because they're "conditioned" to. Back in Saddam's day, voting was compulsory.

The lofty ideals of democracy aren't the only reason people vote, hatred can be a motivator when it comes to voting too.
Some Iraqis might have voted "against" another individual or group. That would play right into the violent sectarianism we are seeing there today.

lets paint a picture that the iraqis see

for twelve years they were cut off from the world by a US led coalition. Life was not great but it wasnt bad either. they had electricity running water and they were virtually free of attacks from all outside sources save for the US no fly zones.

Freedoms were limited but, that is just what all nations in the east are acustomed to. Saddam squashed any uprising so violently that none of the three groups of people dared fight with each other. Terrorism within the nation was nonexistent. AlQueda simply feared Saddam too much to venture into his neighborhood.

then the USA "freed the Iraqi people".

Millions have fled the country due to lack of food, water, and medicine. Electricity STILL isnt dependable. Water is irregular and contaminated. hundreds of thousands of iraqis are dead.. twice that many have been wounded and one quarter of those injuries are loss of arms and legs. HIV has completely infiltrated their blood supply. their places of worship are being destroyed. terrorist organizations from around the globe have set up shop there and keep the population in a state of complete fear. The sunni and Shia politicians refuse to even talk much less work together. the occupying forces and the government they set up are incapable of providing even the simplest of protections to the citizens.

there is absolutely a complete loss of faith in the process of democracy.

america has proven through its complete mishandling of the nation that democracy is not as efficient as dictatorship. now all that is left is to see which one they decide to support.

to say that the iraqis want democracy is just obscenely dishonest and untrue. the politicians and people are simply waiting for america to leave so that the terrorists will follow them out and they will get their nation back.

America is universally hated within the mideastern nations. all their promises are unkept and all the lies that preepted the war have been exposed. they are treated to daily images of armless women and children begging on the streets due to the initial american attacks. Pictures of americans torturing and humiliating iraqis are now part of their nations lore and identity.

lets get real here.

Bush blew it.

its time to leave

anyone that says anything less is happenning is either lying or just ignorant of what is really going on due to political allegiances to the president and his party
