American Horror Story: Coven

I enjoyed last weeks episode but I'm curious about what happened to [SPOILER ] Delphine's head! They just left her there before the mid-season break and the first episode gave us no closure about it at all. Oh, and poor Queenie...

i like this show a lot but i gotta admit its mostly for the characters and tone of the show, not the writing. its gotten really obvious that they seem to just make it up as they go lol

I'm really getting into it! I haven't given it a go before this season but all the characters and actresses are amazing. Emma is suprisingky good!

I'm loving the comedy. Angela Bassett is too funny.

Unless they pull a rabbit out of the hat in the final two episodes I think this is the most poorly written of the three installments. Best cast though...

I am absolutely shocked from tonight's episode. Definitely didn't see it going in that direction! Oh my god--I don't even want to go into because I'll spoil it for those who haven't seen it but.. boy-oh-boy.

Usually I despise spoilers... but man, do I agree. I sat there and watched, and as SOON as it was to be that Cordelia was going to take the 7 Wonders test, I saw that it was pretty much useless for the other girls to continue.

I really, really liked this show when it started, and part of that is my obsession with voodoo, but talk about carrying the ball all the way to the end zone and then just fumbling in the worst way.

Have to agree...it sucked...and it had SOOOOOO much potential. The cast and subject matter were so tantalizing but the writing was just...bad...really really bad.

I was thinking..Larry David who writes and stars in Curb Your Enthusiasm has a special deal with HBO to only do the show when he feels like it ...or the creative urge strikes. Maybe Murphy rushed into it and he wasn't ready?

As Kien noted...the character development was sketchy at best but at the end I barely had a reason to care about most of them because I didn't have a connection or even an understanding of some of the main characters which is a fail on the part of the writers.

One good thing...a lot of times when a series drops the ball in season three...happens a lot...season four kicks ass. I hope he at least realizes the mistakes he made so he can fix them..|

I guess im in the minority. Sure there were a lot of frustrating moments and weak moments that could have been stronger but i really enjoyed this season. I just think if there were more episodes, it could have been flushed out more and I didnt like the LaVae/LaLarie ending because it didn't really make much sense to me. I will miss Mrytle though, she made the show with her oddities and one liners.

I've been quiet in the latter half of this season. That's primarily because I have not much to say as it gradually got worse and became a trainwreck of a story. It felt like they were making it up as they showed up to film. A big waste of so much talent. All the characters were interesting (except for Kyle, a major dud); but apparently the show's budget ran out of money so they cut back with the writing. Not looking forward to AHS4. I wouldn't be disappointed if they decided not to do another. Sadly.

^They ran out of money... so they decided the WRITING was the least important thing?

Ass. Backwards.

I really enjoyed the show in the beginning. However, as most of you have already pointed out. It got progressively worse. I've always had a fascination with witches in movies/television so I may have set my hopes too high. The series had so much potential. There were so many things they could have done with the characters and the plethora of plot lines they introduced. Why did they wait until the last couple of episodes to allow the girls to start exhibiting some of the amazing powers that they all apparently had. Showing the girls notice and develop these gifts over the course of the season could have helped out a a lot--as well as making for some good scenes.

There were many plot lines that could have helped build this season up to make it the best one yet but sadly...they left such potential untapped. I enjoyed it simply because of the witches and I'll most likely buy the DVD but there was just so much they could have done and did not. Quite disappointed.

I agree with Kien... What happened to Zoe's potential as a powerful witch?

I've always known Cordelia would be the one, her character, though flawed, was explained quite well to be her not believing in herself due to her oppressive mother's actions and words!

The 7 Wonders, really? Is it really 7 wonders or just all superficial and no substance!?

Definitely disappointed with Marie Laveau's ending. From being the most powerful Voodoo Queen to the reduced state of another soul damned to Hell? Sad breakdown of her character really. I wanted to see more of a fight, more of a strong, magnificent, elegant woman ahead of her time, as depicted in the flashback to the 17th century!

I was so disappointed by the last few episodes of the show. I was expecting the 7 Wonders to be something a little bit more creative, and not feats that almost anyone could accomplish.
At least Francis Conroy delivered another stunning performance as Myrtle Snow

I was ok with it. I mean I'm sad the coven part of the story is over but I thought the plotting was pretty good. What ever happened to Marie lavue though? Last I saw she was torturing Kathy bates. Is she in hell?

A Dud. I like the show, casting, and atmosphere but every year the stories get so confusing and so everywhere. This year no exception however it was the worst. Though I admire the music of Stevie Nicks that old 80's MTV style lip synched witchy music filler didn't surprise me what did was how lame and butchered the story finale was. It had promise if they would follow through on a more solid narrow story line. Who the fuck was that butler are we to assume that the Frankenstein boy Evans Peters (worthless part the entire yr)is the new butler man? I never could get a clue to what the fuck the axe man was about and how the powerful witch bitch was choked to death my the Frankenstein boy with all her powers and where in the hell was the questions asked about that bitch that the butler man and Frankenstein boy must of burried. Who in the hell were the two goons that went out to the field for the red head witch burning? Never saw them until that scene, and there burning a queen bitch witch at the stake they were the only 2 guest in attendance other than the coven.

Yes, on Papa Legba's whim: Marie Laveau's hell is tortuing Delphine Lalaurie and her family for eternity.

I liked the season overall and it had so much promise but I wish they would have followed up on some other things that reached dead ends. I wanted to see Fiona find a way to stop the cycle of the new Supreme draining the other one to death. I didn't want to see so many of them get killed off too. I wanted that sexy neighbor guy to be more involved since he had already survived 2 attacks. I guess they needed more episodes for a more complete story but I enjoyed most of it. I was damn glad that Cordelia got her eyes back and became the new Supreme.
