I'm not exactly going to miss Joshua but man, he out-sang Phillip every fucking week. But they just couldn't have two ethnic minorities in the final.

Congratulations Jessica. You've won the right to lose to Philip next week.

I honestly think Jessica's going all the way now. Especially after the judges praised her poor performance last night. The fix is in.

I am glad it is Jessica and Phillip. If i wanted church I would go to church. I love Jessica but she is a bland as a personality as was Josh. Phillip at least has a personality and I absolutely loved his We've Got Tonight. Hell, I liked most of his performances and I have liked him since the very first night when he auditioned. I am surprised, though that it isn't Josh and Jess. I thought it would be. J Lo, Randy and Gummy face Tyler were all in tears. A good cry washes away all the over praise, judges, for a guy who sang everything as if he were in the pulpit.

What you said, Spiff.

Yes I would wager you are very different than him. Phillip obviously is passionate about his music. You are obviously passionate about your drama.

LOL it's far from drama. More like cynical resignation. The performances next week are irrelevant. Philip is gonna win this thing pants down.

Well, looks like "Ms. Oversing-the-living-shit-out-of-a-song" will go back to giving head on the DL behind his church.

If Jessica chooses songs that aren't as boring as she is, maybe she can beat the multitudes of hormonal teenage girls with too little musical taste and too much time to sit by a phone and run up daddy's phone bill.

The last time teen girls and horny cougars exerted their power over the zeitgeist, they inflicted Twilight upon the world.

Also Jessica is so clearly the best this season. It will be sad when she loses to Phillip Phillips. Y’all know it’s coming, don’t act like you don’t! We’ve been here before with this show. Infinitely More Talented Female loses to Attractive Male Who Can Kinda Sorta Sing every time now on Idol thanks to teen girls power-texting. Jessica is playing for second place.

"I want two girls in the finals" or whatever the fuck J-Lo said the other night was a desperate plea to America but GIRRRRL PLEASE that ain't happening (neither is "goosies" so stop trying to make it happen). For godsakes we had Haley and Pia last year and even they couldn't eek out an all-girl finals over Kermit and Miss Piggy.

It's going to be Phillip vs Jessica (with Phillip winning) and Jessica will just be lucky if she doesn't lose her spot to Colton or some bullshit.

This is the third post from this thread. This was posted on March 9, 2012.

Congrats.

Thanks locksmithers. But since the Philip/Jessica outcome was always so boringly obvious, I'm prouder of my prediction in there that J-Lo would spend the rest of the season unsuccessfully trying to launch "goosies" into the vernacular.

i wish jessica would win (talented, least annoying 16 y/o AI contestant ever, plus hot dad).
i agree with sgt pepper regarding the ethnicities, sad but true.
as a whole, i think we have gotten critically simon cowell indoctrinated. if a contestant sings well, we look for other things to criticize eg like personality, or the other way around, great personality but ok singer etc. it is true that the whole package is ideal.

though i appreciate these so called AI contestants who "know themselves as the artist they want to be", in a competition, it seems to me as laziness to stretch musically ("this is who i am and i aint trying to sing pop or country etc") and those who are so bold as to rearrange songs seems less artistic and more shrewed (i cant sing that well so im gonna arrange it as jazz or lounge).

AI to me is essentially a singing contest.

Give it to Jessica. Joshua and Phillip don't need it.

Yeah I was totally thinking that too when they showed her dad. What a DILF!

Let's just say Tadaa, I hope your prediction is right but I wouldn't put any money on it.

Phillip might not make tilll next week. When he went home his doctor told him he NEEDED SURGERY RIGHT THEN AND THEIR! His kidney condition is getting worse, Phi SAID NO not until the finale! Once the show is over Phil is going under the knife recovery is 6 weeks or so. Phil has not been good latley very gount What do u think u think Phil should play around with he health like this?

^^ Not to be insensitive but that kinda thing is only going to help him get votes. I don't care if he's wheeled straight into the hospital after his confetti shower, there's no way he's not performing next week and winning the whole thing. Every season there are rumors of someone being too ill to perform (Lauren Alaina before the finale, Crystal Bowersox during the season etc) and it never stops them from actually performing.

'American Idol' Finalist Phillip Phillips Requires Emergency Surgery

American Idol finalist Phillip Phillips, who has suffered from ongoing kidney problems throughout the competition, has been ordered by doctors to undergo "immediate" surgery.

The singer refused treatment when he returned to his hometown of Leesburg, Ga., last weekend in order to adhere to the show's rigorous shooting schedule. And sources inside the production tell The Hollywood Reporter that Phillips has been experiencing pain "so severe" that he's been granted permission to sit out the weekly high-concept (and physically exhausting) Ford video shoots for several weeks now.

"I've been sick, so they gave me those days to rest," Phillips told THR when asked about his absence. The network has no comment on Phillips' health status.

Phillips received emergency medical treatment in March for extreme abdominal pain but made it back in time for the Top 13 results show. He's a favorite to take the title when the winner is announced May 23 on Fox.

That article hit the nail on the head:

Millions of vapid teenage girls vote for a Straight White Guy who plays to the cameras instead the other more talented performers.

Straight White Guy wins American Idol.

Straight White Guy releases debut album 6 months later.

All those millions of vapid teenage girls move on to next Flavor Of The Month.

Straight White Guy's album sells 183 copies.

Straight White Guy gets dropped from label.

Straight White Guy goes back to scrubbing toilets.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

The Idol winners that still have careers do so because they have appeal outside of the fickle tastes & short attention spans of teen girls.

I am not a teenage girl nor boy and most of what Phillip does I really like. I loved The Volcano, The Letter, The Stone and most particularly, We've Got Tonight. I enjoy Jessica's voice but not her stage presence and I find it hard to believe she will be a big record seller if she doesn't perk up that personality. Joshua always did the same song in that over the top gospel way and I just did not like it. I have read several columns that have a beef with the way Phillip does a song, but for me taking a song a making it your own is the soul of a singer, any singer. Jessica sings the song but rarely adds any new style or interest to it. Joshua just goes heavy duty gospel and in an audience that works because of the acoustics. Ay home it didn't work for me, and any of my friends that watch the show. He is another who has not an ounce of real stage presence unless he is singing at the top of his longs. He almost has a teenage girl voice when he talks.
