So does anyone else think they inexplicably eliminated Johnny Keyser in the Hollywood rounds because they wanted a female winner and he'd be too much of a babe for any um...babe to beat? If so, the finale result is even more hilarious.

Since Idol is generally so homophobic, here's one of many reasons to love Kris Allen.

I am extremely happy that Phillip won. Since it was possible to buy full versions of the songs he did on the show I now have a complete cd of his music and some of them are great. Volcano, The Stone (love it enough that I have listened a dozen times), Home which has haunting lyrics and a beautiful score, U Got it Bad (and I have). I will miss him on the show but have some consolation in his music. Looking forward to his first new cd.

One for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, four to grab that ass
emcee and it's time to go-go-go until gone. The best part about this 'show' is
that it gives me a time frame to watch various programs that have been tivo'd.
Now, allegedly the product developers, (and I use that term loosely) are talking
Adam Lambert as a replacement judge. Props to the Gods, obviously it has been
determined to take this pathetic garbage scow of a time block & finish scuttling it.
Any chance Simone Crowsalot will be a brave Captain and GO DOWN with his ship...
maybe even taking Ryan 'must have a great ass & lips' SeeCrust with him.

Glad that they are leaving. Useless judges...Steven Tyler had nothing to say except that it was beautiful or you're beautiful. J. Lo was ok but not very entertaining to watch. Now they just need to get rid of Randy Jackson.

They need young, relevant people on the judging panel. The problem with that is they are hard to get a hold of because they can make more money away from the show than on it since relevant artists can rake in a lot of money through touring, interviews, etc.
Randy's okay but I honestly couldn't care less if he left. Get a hot young thing in the middle and a new breakout star/current artist as well and you're good to go.
Idol seems to be losing steam season after season, but the show still rakes in too much money for Fox to ever cancel it. It's still a ratings juggernaut despite having ratings erode season after season; it still manages to pull in enough people per week 11 seasons (going into 12) in, which is impressive all things considered. Plus whoever comes on to judge gets tons of free promotion for their music/career.

honestly, American Idol has lost its steam. has been for a couple seasons now. instead of replacing the judges they should pull the plug and give another show the limelight. this sinking ship needs to be cut loose.

Well it seems that Mariah Carey may end up replacing one of them.
I was done when Ellen DeGeneres was named a judge - someone who has no musical background judging a singing competition was enough for me. (no shade to Ellen - I like her).
