Re: American Idol 7 Thread!!!!

One thing that needs to be changed is more of the judges having an impact on the voting. After the auditions the judges are pretty much worthless.. I think Simon is the only that can swing the votes occasionally in his direction. But after this season.. I don't he has had much of an impact on the voting with his opinions. Basically what it comes down to after the auditions is just comments... WORTHLESS COMMENTS.

They should adopt something similar to the Dancing with the Stars voting system.. because there needs to be some kind of balance. So they can cancel out the idiots that are voting. I'm not saying they should throw up cards with 1-10.. but they need to be part of the voting somehow...

Re: American Idol 7 Thread!!!!

^I agree. If the judges had more input on who gets chosen and who doesn't, then we would most likely end up with the GOOD singers. Jordin is cute and all, and she can sing, but we all know that Melinda and Lakisha tore the house down more than once.

Re: American Idol 7 Thread!!!!

And you guys remember Ace from last season, right?

HE WAS SO SMOKIN' HOT!!!

Re: American Idol 7 Thread!!!!

Never too early to start.

First up..guys,be more competitive and don't embarass us again, the guys were completely on a lesser level this year as singers ...and no more rockers who can't change their sounds like Bo Bice or Chris Daughtry, they are completely wrong for the contest, they cannot really go outside the box and do other stuff with conviction.A new Usher,a John Legend inspired singer,no Timberlake redos who can't win...a Blake who is daring and can really bring it vocally, not only be pretty good,adequate....truthfully,his voice wasn't good enough to get beyond the final 4 or 5.

A lot less self-promotion,smarminess,snarkiness,self-adulation(Yeah right, like that's gonna happen!) ,uninspired musical guest performers(I'm telling you,if three quarters of the supposed stars who performed this season were unknowns just getting on stage as contestants, they'd be ripped to shreds for their unimpressiveness):grrr: Let the singers getting booted have prechosen a song they actually want to sing when they say goodbye, why should they sing the song that got them canned in the first place...and as badly if not worse?Enough with the asinine, hack written crappy inspirational "I'm so loved and this is my moment thanks to you"retreads...they only are getting worse.A pastor and a member of his congregation wrote that newest atrocity to the ears...yeah,really more edgy than the professionals! How about just a really good song, catchy fun,fluffy...but one thast can be listened to without causing one to wretch!

Well,Idol is a great show only because of the performers and some nice unforced thrilling moments.Far too often,it has a heavy corporate, lowest common denominator ,prepackaged and predictably safe and undaring persona..It doesn't connect often on spontaineity, real risk and innovation, anything that really will move the direction of pop music in an exciting new direction. Its self-absorption will always be with us,until the ratings really go south. So I guess I'm just hoping for a better, more exciting, more talent and personality driven season next year, but I'll be back just the same....though if they dropped Randy and Paula, and gave two really passionate and engaged judges who offered more than the same tired, unchanging perspectives,I'd be happy!

Re: American Idol 7 Thread!!!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

They need to do an American Idol: All Stars season where past contesants who, say, got 3rd or 4th to 12th place get a second shot at the title of American Idol.

That would be cool.

But that's just me.

Something different has to develop soon.Randy and Paula are just not doing anything for me dawg...Paula is getting embarassing with her extracurricular activities, and sweet as she is...seriously,what is she doing judging a singing contest? As if!;)

This show needs something interesting...it's way too corporate, creatively stifling, and really has no edge.Family entertainment is great, but you need something to get excited about. The show works only despite the formula, because of some great performances and interesting performers...but I always think it can be so much better and more relevant if it was less corporate and predictably self-adulating and bland.

Re: American Idol 7 Thread!!!!

You'd better bump this every day or it'll be on page 50 by next January.

Re: American Idol 7 Thread!!!!

I thought that American Idol 7 was going to be searching for the next Band. But after looking at the site, I guess they are going to do both? I agree...something needs to change. Getting a little repetitive.

Re: American Idol 7 Thread!!!!

^^Thet're working on a new show similar to AI about finding a new band.

Re: American Idol 7 Thread!!!!

i am gonna try out for american idol just for the hell of it. besides i can make fun of those people who think their life is over cause they were rejected.

American Idol producers scout professional singers to audition for this season.

281x211.jpg

On Tuesday night, American Idol audiences were introduced to Kristy Lee Cook, the winsome 23-year-old kickboxing cage-fighter from Oregon who purportedly sold her favorite horse to pay her way to the Philadelphia auditions. (Turns out she hasn't lived in Oregon for years & flew to Philly from Dallas, where she lives.)

Cook, as was reported Tuesday, is a country artist who was once signed to Arista Nashville and managed by Marty Rendelman, who counts LeAnn Rimes as a former client. Cook also had a deal with Britney Spears' production company, and the embattled pop star was set to appear in one of Cook's videos.

Cook is one of a handful of "Idol" hopefuls this season who can claim at least some music-industry experience. One contestant, Carly Hennessy, is an Irish singer who was signed to MCA Records and even released a solo record, Ultimate High, while another, Jermaine Paul, was nominated for a Grammy.

Word is that Idol producers scouted these professional singers & planted them in the Idol auditions, with these auditioners knowing full well they will go through (there are reportedly 10 of them in all). Also reportedly is some of them have guaranteed spots in the final 24 or even the final 12.

Will the onslaught of professional singers, some of whom have signed recording contracts and retained management, cheapen the "American Idol" experience for the general public?

"Isn't this show about finding undiscovered talent?," asked one fan at the official American Idol forums.

"['Idol' producer] Nigel [Lythgoe], were you planning on concealing this and fooling your audience again?" asked another forum visitor. "Do you think people are idiots and wouldn't find this out? You couldn't find 50 American kids who need a break? America will just love your foreign imports. How stupid do they think we are? Don't [the producers] know we look around on the Internet?"

THOUGHTS?????

Re: American Idol producers scout professional singers to audition for this season.

Unless you are currently in a recording contract you are eligible to compete on Idol.

Thought - if these people haven't made it previously, why would you think that they'll make it this time?

Conclusion - so what.

Ditto. This is just another of MANY MANY conspiracy theories surrounding Idol. True or not, who cares?

Re: American Idol producers scout professional singers to audition for this season.

Yup.
And with fewer people watching network primetime, any press keeps the show on people's minds.

Re: American Idol producers scout professional singers to audition for this season.

I guess they do not want another Sanjaya in the middle of the competition again.

Re: American Idol producers scout professional singers to audition for this season.

The purpose of AI is to make lots and lots of money for 19 Entertainment, Fox TV and everyone producing, hosting and judging on the show.

And Ontariobear is correct. If you don't have a current contract you're eligible.

The OP's information, I believe, originated with votefortheworst, a small band of cranks who have no life except to rag on AI.

It's a worthless show, but ragging on its many flaws seems to me a huge waste of time.

Of course, I'll still watch it, unless the WGA strike ends soon.

Re: American Idol producers scout professional singers to audition for this season.

Sanjaya was the saving grace of last season, providing an element of interest (even if it was of the WTF variety) in an otherwise bland and lackluster year. They actually NEED something to happen this year to get people excited again...
