Time difference doesn't matter. Many people may have DVR-ed it. Internet etiquette would be not to put any details in a title at all, at least until the next day.

No, Darlin', I'm not. This isn't anything new. For years it's been accepted on forums, message boards, etc. that you don't post spoilers in titles. Hell, you're not supposed to even post them in the body of the post unless you let people know there's a spoiler warning. That's been part of internet manners for years, since back in the days when the VCR was popular.

Yeah, this is a bit much. I can understand being disappointed, but I think the brutal attacks are too much. Remember, there are real people behind the pixels. Maybe this kid was just so pissed off at the results, and he felt that the results were a smack to the gay community, that he posted the winner w/o thinking. And, I live in the eastern time zone and had no idea that you all didn't see the shows at the same time we do. I roomed w/ a Cali girl in my sorority, and once asked her if they broadcasted the ball that drops in New York Times Square on New Year's Eve at midnight pacific time, so that they could watch it. And no, they don't. Cali folks see the celebrations kick off at midnight eastern time. So, it's possible that the OP just didn't know.
But to answer the OP's question. Admittedly, I'm not into American Idol or anything of that sort, but to me, it's not a slap in the face. Prop. 8 and other political measures, yeah, I'm fired up about those. American Idol, not so much. I buy into Joshua_me's theory on that one.

We need to remember that this photo and others like it were leaked on the net and exposed to the public and he still made it to the finale. So Saying that Adam didn't win because he is gay is dumb. Adam lost because no one could take another second of him being shoved down our throats.

It doesn't happen much in Hot Topics because most of these kinds of discussions happen in the Entertainment threads. You'll find a lot of the threads there use spoilers either in the title or in the posts. Even though it is rare, as Jayden pointed out, there is a Sticky at the top of Hot Topics that explains exactly what is expected in the case of spoilers, so one could say that yes, it is enforced. Some mods will come along and change a title if it reveals a major detail and they catch it in time.

I didn't really know how to "get along" on a forum. From the OP's sign up date, he seems pretty new. Maybe this is his first experience w/ online forums. I just hope we don't scare him away.
It's just amazing b/c some of you who are fussing, are the exact same ones who are always discussing how we need to consider one another feelings instead of flying off the handle. And how real human beings w/ feelings are on the other side of the computer and we should be more careful about what we post. Well, what happened to the very values that you spout out?

Let's say I get to see a movie the night it opens. On the way out, while I'm passing people in the hallway waiting to see the show, I exclaim loudly to my friends, "Damn, I can't believe they killed off Character X." I've just pissed off everyone in line.
Then I go home, and while on the phone with a friend, one who I don't know whether or not has seen the movie, say the same thing. Just pissed off that friend too.
Some things should be common sense, even if there's not much common about sense anymore. And when one does something like this, one gets his ass chewed a little and then never does it again. Hell, I know boards where people would have wished him death and dismemberment. About the worst he got here was being called a "fucker."

We wanted Adam to win based on pure TALENT, and he was SSSOOOOOOOO much better than Kris.
Kris was still extremely good or he would have been there and we like him to .
But we based our thinking on win by talent. So america was not ready again..
But Adam won a ton more than Kris in the shear exposure he got. That alone we make him be in the music industry very soon.
And sometimes 2nd place does better than the winner.
