Paula surprisingly had taste but didn't know how to give constructive criticism. Kara tried to give constructive criticism but didn't have any real taste. Ellen was basically Steven Tyler with better make-up. And Randy could never find his own ass with both hands, not even if you spotted him a cheek.

In fact, in terms of overall criticism/usefulness, I'd rank the judges as so:

1. Simon Cowell
2. J-Lo
3. A monkey
4. Paula
5. Kara
6. A really stupid monkey
7. Randy
8. Steven & Ellen

I find Randy more insufferable than ever now that he's in Simon's place on the panel and the show is trying to act like he's the most important judge. He's always been a babbling incomprehensible dumbass who spouts the same "yo yo yo" "dawg" and "pitchy" shit over and over.

Jennifer's pretty much there for me. It feels like she's actively trying to be the "nice" judge like Paula was.

Tyler's my favorite of these three simply because the trainwreck antics of my beloved Pauler Abdul are gone and he's the closest to replicating that.

Kara was a vile, humorless, egotistical moron who made her two seasons insufferable. At least Paula was still there to offset it in season 8, but having Randy, Kara AND Ellen was even worse because at that point 75% of the judges were completely intolerable (though, the worst thing I can say about Ellen is that she was simply out of her element as a judge) and show always ran late because they wouldn't ever shut the fuck up.
 
I have always hated Steven tyler until I started watching this. He can come out with a raunchy remark now and again and make me laugh.

I got a little wet too with Stefano's performance. Boy is sweet, and I love his voice.

Jacob Lusk has got to be pumped full of helium gas, the big fart blossom. Just vile to me, VILE!

Yeah, Scotty has a weird sideways lean when he sings and it was so evident in that performance.

I love Casey. There is just some little devious elf there doing some sly and delicious music.

Total cosign. And isn't it pathetic to watch him be all, "I know this is gonna shock everyone coming from me" before giving a good review etc? He wants to be Simon SO BAD and no one else is playing along. Randy is a classic example of if you have to voice how people see you, then it means they don't see you that way at all.

The few times Randy has been honest with them and said the performance sucked, the entire crowd BOOOOOOS and will barely let him talk. /facepalm



And let me just say: I've never hated an American Idol contestant more than I hate Paul McDonald. That guy doesn't belong on a stage AT ALL; he manages to move around like a humongous jackass every time he's up there. Ryan Seacrest makes fun of him by imitating him every time.

I'm still hoping Paul gets the boot tonight instead of Stefano. The latter hasn't been good the past few weeks but if I have to watch this dog and pony show, at least Stefano provides eye candy.
 
My prediction is that Jacob will go tonight, since it's probably time for the first guy to go. Scotty has the country fans, Paul got the pimp spot, Stefano has the preteen "squeeee he's so cute!" votes, Durbin has the frau votes, and Casey's still riding on the wave of being saved. Jacob also got the spot of death.

Probably a Jacob, Stefano, Haley bottom three.
 
Having a good old VFTW cackle at Paul being safe over Pia.

Too bad she'll be safe and this is probably just a move by TPTB to get her fans voting.

i cant believe Pia got booted and Paul continues. Paul looks, moves and sounds like Kermit the Frog on crack. he should have been gone weeks ago. Pia was amazing week after week.
 
that was absolutely ridiculous...Pia should move to Europe and become a huge star there because America doesn't deserve her talent.

this show continually proves the stupidity of this country...for real.

The outright absurdity!

Jacob, Casey, Paul, and Stefano ALL safe and continue, while Pia is gone.

Stefano knew he didn't deserve it, and you could see it in his face.

My jaw hit the floor when Ryan said Pia was going home. I thought for sure it would be Stefano! The possibility of Pia getting the least number of votes never even crossed my mind. I thought for sure she would make it to the Top 3. Like... no doubt.

I can't believe what a sausage fest this season has become. Every person who's gone home has been a girl, and I don't think it's a coincidence that the two girls left standing are the pretty white blondes.

The one time a guy was eliminated, the judges foolishly saved him... and I bet they're regretting that in a big way now.

Sigh...

Is this even worth watching next week?

I thought he was playing around and no one was getting eliminated...just the way he was saying things...but then...nope...the "Gotcha" never came

I used to think Melinda Doolittle's boot before the finals was the worst AI result. But this surpasses it. Pia Toscano was the best fucking singer every week and she doesn't at least make it to F3???

Fuck this season!

And of course this makes me hate Casey even more. His fat ass got saved when Pia really needed it. Damn.
 
This is just BEGGING for viewership to drop.

Seriously, as has been said already, she was the best we had week after week and she's booted from the top 9. I really don't care to watch anymore. I hope this is the final nail in the American Idol coffin.

The show needs to die.
