American Idol: Season 10

I have seen both shows. Steven Tyler is a hoot! The first show he said something about fucking a duck and see what happens! WOW!

Jennifer is great! Randy is the boom! Glad he is saying more this year.

Tyler gave me the creeps in the 80's and now its just that much worse. I was always a casual fan and I didn't even realize it had started. Meh. If I watch any episodes it will be auditions only. I get bored and usually stop watching once they get to Hollywood.

My grips are all the 16year olds and the sob stories, jez talk about the sympathy vote.

Yes, but the girl from Armenia and the single mom with the deaf daughter are actually really good singers, though. So at least it isn't an "Aw, well they suck but let's just be nice." I do agree that all the 15 and 16-years this year are gross. It's obvious that the producers are pushing to compete with Justin Bieber.

For the last few years, the show has been unbearable once they get to Hollywood and down to the Top 20, because the contestants pick the friggin' worst choices of songs in the world. I'm interested in watching only because I think Steven will say some hilarious shit about it if they're bad.

I debated over the last couple of days whether I should even POST my opinion here on this seasons thread...

Basically -- because it is a NEGATIVE opinion... :(

But -- since I have watched EVERY other season -- and for the most part enjoyed the show -- I figured that I could do so tactfully...

So, basically, after watching ONLY the FIRST episode, I called home and asked opinterph to CANCEL our TIVO subscription as I will waste NO MORE TIME watching this show...

I couldn't BELIEVE that they allowed a girl to go to Hollywood, JUST BECAUSE her father survived cancer -- GREAT STORY, but SHAME ON THEM!!! She is going to fail miserably RIGHT OFF THE BAT and its basically putting her family through a WHOLE LOT of BULLSHIT that SHOULD have been AVOIDED!!!

Also -- the girl that CRIED LIKE a BABY -- and then GOT HER OWN WAY!!! What kind of message does this send??? Not to mention how TRAUMATIZED she'll be when she gets to Hollywood and is IMMEDIATELY kicked out because she doesn't sing very well...

So those two things REALLY bothered me -- but what was MOST UPSETTING is that the judges don't even take the COMPETITION seriously -- they're there for SHOW and NOT substance...

If they're not going to take it seriously, neither will I, and I WON'T watch it...

Having said that -- I MIGHT give it a shot once they're down to their final contestant list -- just to see if there REALLY is any TALENT this year -- but between now and then, I'll waste my time elsewhere!!!

Oh -- and for those of you who are going to ENDURE this season -- I REALLY HOPE, for YOUR sake, that it gets better!!! ..|

:):):)

I think Tyler and J-Lo are good additions. Now if they would only replace Randy it could be better. May as well start out completely fresh and new and have a whole new panel. I'm really not looking forward to yet another season of listening to all the same old Randy-isms. And now that he is in Simon's chair, were going to have to endure listening to even more of his crap.

I love Idol this year!!! Steven is a great judge! I like J Lo. I am thrilled to see Kara gone. I never cared much for her.

Already getting bored with the auditions, get to Hollywood!

I love this year idol. The new judges feels fresh. Instead of plain old boring Paula and simon.

I am a little dismayed at the age of some of the applicants this year. I'd hate to watch a season full of 15 year olds. Although, to be fair, there was that one little girl who could really belt it out.

Utter junk. Tyler is a pile of horse shit and J-Lo is softer than my Charmin. Randy is trying to rogue it up so he comes off as a pure jackass. The auditions are the same old same old with every sob story coming and going, and I have only tuned in for maybe an hour this season sporadically .

I agree with you Joesman about J. Lo and Steven Tyler...they want to be nice judges and let down the contestants easy. They should be honest and tell them how they really are, some contestants are just delusional and thinking that they can sing.

It's almost a sure thing anyone talks about is the judges. American Idol is so much more than that- the judges. I'm speaking for myself here- but I follow it for the sheer musical talents that we so rarely find.

This past episode got me sobbing like crazy! The story about the Chris Medina guy- when he said, 'what man would I be if I left him now, when she needed me the most' I mean, come on. Isn't that the most perfect line in a Jennifer Aniston movie EVER?!?!

Anyway, I really really do hope we'll get a little bit more talents this season.

By the way did you guys watch last year's UK's X-Factor? The contestants there were so good there was no comparison at all.

About the judges- I really love me some Steven Tyler. Where the hell does he get all these cookie comments from? J.Lo is basically just a jello. Bland, uninteresting. She's trying so hard to be liked. And from the stories I read from other gossip blogs- totally unlike her real diva personality. And honestly who can take her seriously? She's NOT that good a singer and NOT that good an actress.

Come on.

And Randy needs to go. He needed to go the season before Paula left.

What was with that apology at the beginning of the show last night? Didn't really understand that.

I think my libido has increased and I've become totally whorey, but as much as it pains me to admit I kinda think Ryan Seacrest is attractive this season. Ugh.

Anyway on last nights show my fav was the fey big booty male nurse with his long lost sister. I love them.

What was with that apology at the beginning of the show last night? Didn't really understand that.

Yeah - I interpreted that as a tongue-in-cheek reference to an episode last week where they had to bleep Steven Tyler for saying "Fuck a duck", sort of a joking slap-on-the-wrist, then smashing that supposed "apology" by swearing at the first guy who opened last night's show - "same 'ole loveable unpredictable rock star" thing. Though according to this it was just a publicity stunt so they could promo/tease the episode all day and imply some bad behavior went down. It was kind of abstract and self-referential - didn't quite work.

By the way, that contestant from last night said on his Twitter feed that Tyler wasn't even cursing at him - he said "luck". :)

Saw a couple of episodes and have to say...it isn't the same without Paula and Simon.

Little annoying. I rather see some new people singing in Hollywood, instead we got recaps of people that we were forced to watch in the auditions. Glad that they weeded out some of the annoying characters.

My only problem is that the episodes are not long enough. I wish they were all two hours! I loved that teen couple that got split up. That guy kept singing on the way out of the room and Randy was just not having any of it!

And I love the ex-couple's voices. I was glad they both made it through. I want them to get back together.

Some interesting people this year. I have a feeling that kid who sang Queen's song aka the screamer is going to belt out a high note every song just like Adam Lambert.

Not to be mean or anything but that 15 year old Jaycee, the kid who was kicked out the group, is not a great singer. And I am surprised he keeps on making it far.
