American Idol: Season 10

why the hell didn't chris medina get through??? and scotty??? serisously? that teacher guy is also annoying and also the guy who kicked jaycee out

This is the best looking group of semi-finalists in all 10 years!

No matter how I look at it, I can't agree with that from a singing standpoint or from a visual attractiveness standpoint.

I think there are some very good looking guys... but I wouldn't say the hottest line up in ten years.

Stefano Langone

Definitely rooting for Stefano, love his voice and he's Gorgeous which is a definite Plus ;)

Jacob is a good vocalist, but I can't imagine where he would fit in music today. Vocalists don't really make it anymore. I just don't see many people buying a Jacob Lusk record.

Of the guys, I could only see Jovany, Stefano, and Clint making it on a commercial level.

well my votes went to Casey, Stefano, Paul and Brett and threw a couple votes to Robbie(even though he was horrible last night and a couple to Tim (because I know he can do better than what he did last night)

My vote went to Casey. That "I Put A Spell On You" was in-fucking-credible. He has so much musical talent.

Jacob Lusk, Casey Abrams, Scotty McCreery, Robbie Rosen... and, with the proper song, Paul Mcdonald, are the only people worth seeing.

The others are complete DUDS. BORING.

They made some really awful picks. And, for the life of me, I can't figure out the point of Brett Lowenstern. Just awful. Made my flesh crawl every time he flipped his hair.

And Jacob Lusk needs to tone down the creepy, faux-sexy, eye rolls.

I don't know what I expected, but the first live show kind of gave me the creeps. Everybody seemed on edge somehow. The judges kept saying the same things over and over. I really really miss Simon...

AND -- am I the only one that had the experience that I couldn't hear the vocals half the time? The band was drowning them out. Was that bad mixing or do some of these guys just have really small voices? Or do I need to adjust my set?

my dad mentioned the same thing about the mixing....but I feel like it's always like that, the band, as talented as they are, always seem to over power the performers

You're definitely on point about the creepy thing. Found myself wincing throughout most of the show.

And the mixing WAS horrible. Small voices AND bad mixing.

I'm with you on the mixing! (I thought it was just me being uber-picky, I'm a bit of an audio buff.) The vocals weren't mixed as prominent as they should've been; singers were rarely "on top" of the band - and background vocalists were pushed up way high in the mix. But it was the first live show and it can take them a little time to settle into the traits of the venue/equipment/personnel doing the mix, so I think it'll only improve. They also do one mix live for the venue and one for broadcast (and that may be separate 5.1 and stereo downmixes, depending) so what's heard in the theater can be different (so judges/performers might be oblivious to it being a bad mix to viewers at home).

In a past season (I think two seasons ago) one of the producers acknowledged to "Entertainment Weekly" that the mix was bad on a particular episode and that the sound mixer spent hours that night going over settings and working on it for the next night's performance, so they do pay attention to that stuff, fortunately. ..|

As for the "edginess", yeah, I saw a sort of cautionary "stiffness". But again it was the first live show and it can take a bit of time to settle into the groove for all the technical aspects - I think that'll get better.

Yeah the mixing was horrible. They've had episodes before where the mixing was bad on certain contestants but just fine on other contestants and people thought they wanted to make certain contestants sound better or worse so the producer favorites would go through.

Does anyone else think Scott McCreery is probably homophobic? I remember in the group episode he was desperate to find a group because no one would take him in. Brett was nice and offered to let him join his group and he very quickly shrugged him off like "Hell no!!".

It's so funny you have that feeling about Scotty - I was thinking just the opposite, that it's possible he might kinda play for "our" team. During Hollywood week when there was a victory with a bunch of group contestants, there's a short moment where he immediately turned to the (admittedly hot) slightly Adam Lambert jet-black-haired emo/glamrock dude beside him and gave him a huge hug before most other people on stage reacted and when they were more subdued with others in their victory. He gave Jaycee a hug in one of the Top 12 announcement episodes, and was crying about how he didn't defend him (and said he cried in bed at night over it).

I'm not saying the act of hugging or crying makes somebody less than straight, that's ridiculous to say, and there's nothing neither wrong or gay about either gesture. But I get the sense the way he interacts with contestants and how deeply he seems to feel things is at odds with a stoic North Carolina straight manly-man vibe. Again, not that that means he bats for our team - just there seems to be more going on than a masculine country & western singer crooner act. And maybe he just thought Brett was annoying. :)

They all pretty much sucked except for James, Jacob and Casey.

Can't wait for the girls:

I want to see Sade (Naima), Lil GaGa (Rachael), and Lauren.

i would die if the happened on American Idol

tonight, one of the girls called Ryan Seacrest, Peaches. Randy and Jennifer agreed that they liked the name.... the me dying part comes in tomorrow if they introduced Ryan(with the big announcer voice) as Peaches Seacrest... agree? or and i a silly fool
