I have come over to the dark side. After weeks of getting frustrated as Sanjaya moved forward while better qualified singers get the axe, something changed this week where I now am suddenly enjoying the fact that he is on this show. I think it's the fact that he doesn't seem to be taking this seriously. He seems to be in on the joke, knows he's not the best singer or gonna win and just figures he might as well have fun with things while he's there and it's sort of refreshing. The ridiculousness of him still being in the competition is flaunted openly by Ryan, the judges and Sanjaya himself, and he just doesn't seem to care. I have to admit, that while I have said week after week that I want him gone, I do indeed anticipate just what he will be doing each week in terms of his hair, and his performance. He keeps things somewhat interesting and I hope that he stays awhile longer. I don't want him to win, but there's a few other folks I'd rather see go first now.
For the record, I don't think his natural voice is all that bad. I just think that he isn't the greatest performer and lets his nerves get ahold of him and really holds back. I think the past two weeks, he's let loose a bit and came off better for it and I actually don't think that these past two weeks, that he was the worst performer. Maybe the 2nd or 3rd worst, but not the absolute worst of the night, which is at least a slight improvement.
