I boycotted AI every year until this one after Frenchie was unfairly ousted. And the only reason Im watching this year is because I went to Highschool with Lakisha, and I hope she wins cuz the money would really help her family. After this season tho its right back to boycotting. Fuck American Idol.

Wasn't the logic, though, that Antonella's pictures were PRIVATE PHOTOS that had been leaked, while Frenchie (though I loved her) was paid to pose on an adult website? I don't think this is a case of racism.

Sorry: General trend I'm getting annoyed of is that things are being called "racist" just because something bad happens to a black person, regardless of whether or not the black person deserved it. If you break the rules, you deserve the punishment. I mean, I just don't see anyone complaining that anyone else got mistreated, even though I could see a case for Mexican-Americans;) ...

Those must be some very well-fed wolves!:) Antonella would be less than a snack. Yeah, I've read that the difference is amateur vs. professional. The only scandal involving Antonella is that her looks seem to be propelling her wayyyyy past her singing 'talent'.

Well, Robin, even though I don't think that AI is racist, your argument is irrelevant. Even if AI was racist, the fact that Ruben and Fantasia won has nothing to do with it because it's the PUBLIC who votes for the winner.

Sundance was singing Jeremy by a little band you might have heard of - Pearl Jam? That's how the song is supposed to be sung.

Very disappointing show and some weird choices. Phil went from good to crappy. I'm sure VFTW will put Sanjaya in the Top 12. Let's not forget it was the judges who gave him the spot in the Top 24 to start with.

That actually wasn't my argument...If it were, I would have pointed out that only one judge is distinctly white.

My argument was more that just because something bad happens to a black person, but not a non-black, that doesn't make the situation racist. Although both women made pictures of debatable taste, Davis was paid to pose for hers, whereas Barba's were of a more candid nature, and were not intended to arouse the same feelings that Davis' pics did; Barba's pics weren't intentionally pornographic, but Davis' were. There have been other AI singers that have posed for provacative pictures (most notably Beck O'Donahue, who posed for Maxim), but nothing on the level of Davis.

In essence, Davis was disqualified because her pics were definitely against the rules, whereas the other two were more in fun than porno. I'm just not feeling the racist vibe here...

Jared and Chris R are my favorites to win for the males (even though I don't think a male will win this year).

Funny Chris R said he wouldn't think America would believe that he was once fat. I can. His face seems to have a little extra skin that formerly heavy people have.

But, Frenchie posed for a porn site. Her photos were not private.

Not the race card. Just facts.. I don't try to deny racism.. unlike you, who thinks anyone can throw any word around and not be considered a racist. But we are not going to get into that. Because that debate is finished.

You try to ignore racism or give them a "slap" on the wrist. I don't.. if I see something that is racist.. I will call it!! Online or Offline :D

But I will say that this could end up not being a racist situation. Because one was private and the other public. We just have to wait til this plays out. Hopefully this ends well.

This is something to think about...

Antonella is thin and pretty in the mainstream's eyes and Frenchie is overweight and would have a minority of the mainstream attracted to her.

Either way you slice it however, there are definitely some politics being played out on this one! Racist no, but a bias of sorts...Yes! ..|

I love how it's because she's black I mean that's gotta be it! It couldn't be the perfectly logical explanation that one was paid to pose for a porn site and the other is just a slut with a digital camera and some amoral friends who apparently have no respect for her privacy....

or maybe because frenchie would've one and antonella is bound to be booted off so they assumed the problem would fix itself.

Except that this is just not racist. Just because it involves a black person doesn't mean that the situation is racist. Each situation needs to be judged on its own merits, and not looked at as part of some silly conspiracy. I'm willing to concede that there are some racist incidents, but I don't see any call for racism in this situation; the two cases are just too different when you look at the details...

But I will say that this could end up not being a racist situation. Because one was private and the other public. We just have to wait til this plays out. Hopefully this ends well.

Oh please. This one I can slam by pointing out that if looks were the sole point, or even a major one, then how did Ruben win? He's not a sleek-looking pretty boy by any standard, and yet (apparently mysteriously) still won...

And given the number of upsets, there was no guarantee that Frenchie would have won...

Yes...you make a slight point, but we are not talking about Winning AI, because Antonella is clearly not going to.

Ruben won, yes this was the public's decision - viewers/voters. VS. The decision of kicking off Frenchie and keeping on Antonella is that of the producers.

They're Hollywood which means only ratings are important and in a producers' eyes beauty and sexy sells - period.

So, although you tried to slam me on that one, I believe I've just played excellent defense and am good for the rebound! ;)
