I'm really glad Jordin won. I think that will work for the benefit of both Jordin and Blake. However, the finale tonight was absolutely terrible. I wanted to see all the idols back together again and have their chance to sing in the spotlight but instead we got a bunch of old washed-up stars from past decades. Yes, they were and are amazing, but I didn't want to watch them for 2 hours, I wanted to watch my favorite idols which instead of getting the spotlight were given maybe 2 solo lines to sing and disappeared the rest of the show. Hell, they hardly even showed Blake and Jordin and the night was about them. What a way to thank the idols for the money they have made American Idol by making them sing backup to stars that the majority of the Idol audience have never heard of or don't care about. Last year's finale was perfect. Every idol got their chance to shine, the top 5 got to sing with respectable singers, and the rest had stellar group performances with extended solos. Last year's finale was all about the idols with some guest thrown in, but this year it was the other way around.

First off.. Why do you think this poor innocent black girl(yes I know she is mixed, but still black) had everything handed to her? How do you know if the other contestants didn't have everything handed to them?

Since she hasn't released any album yet, or done anything YET.. how in the hell do you know if she will be unmarketable like some of the other AI winners?

now she got that nasty 19E contract.

she would have probably have been better off kicked off earlier.

ARRGGHHHH!!! My fuckin' dvr!!! how long did the show run over the 2hours? I was at the Gwen Stefani/Akon show tonight and I got home went downstairs turned on the dvr....watched the show...it comes to the end of the Srgt. Pepper tribute(which was the most f'ing random thing ever!) and then it ends! that was the end of the 2hrs apparently and my dvr shut off!!! So i didn't even get to see Jordin win....ugh...seriously

Anyway, awwwww another season is over. Congrats Jordin!

Overall, I thought the finale was actually entertaining. I've fallen even more in love with Carrie Underwood; I'm SO buying her cd tomorrow-she's so amazing.

I loved Tony Bennett, Green Day, even Sanjaya and Crying Girl crying all over again LOL

Awww I'm actually going to miss this thread! Sadness.

I was pissed that Chris Richardson didn't get a solo. He deserved some time in the spotlight. I hope he parlays this exposure into something more. If you notice, he was the one that the photogs followed when they went out on the town.

Agreed. The Top 6 should have all got solos or featured with a celeb instead of wasting time checking in with Gwen on tour and running long etc.

What a fucking waste of time, they only showed Blake and Jordin for about 10 minutes in the whole 2 hours. The highlights was the opening performance with Blake and Jordin and Sanjaya's performance since it was so funny with the wind blowing trying to make him look cool and the crying girl crying like crazy again.

They wasted so much time with shit that didn't have anything to do with American Idol. Gwen Steffani, Tony Bennett, Greenday, the blonde bitch replacing Celine. All the past Idol winners suck and got 2 performances each. Who the fuck cares about Taylor, Carrie and Ruben. In the past, the top 4 and 5 got their own duets but this year they barely got to sing. Chris and Phil had the least amount of singing with 2 lines each when Chris was supposed to get his own duet. They didn't need the stupid awards too. They could've fit time for both Chris and Lakisha to get their own duets or atleast a duet together but instead they pushed in as many shitty ass celebrities they could. Fucking stupid! Even the top 6 guys/girls performances were taken over with the contestants barelly getting to sing. They made the contestants sing back up for crappy musicians, what a show. Who the fuck cares about Carrie singing I'll stand by you AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

Judging by the ratings and the talent on this show, I can see why the producers took this route. A majority of the top 12 sucked, except for a few here and there. To be quite honest I wouldn't buy an album from either of the Top 12.. yes I had a 1 or 2 I liked, but I wouldn't buy music from them.

The only two in my opinion that will have some good success are Jordin and Blake. Jordin has the tools to have a great music or should I say "Hollwyood" career if they "produce" her correctly. The reason I say Hollywood is the fact that for some reason I see her doing some guest appearances on a few Disney Channel/or ABC Family shows. She has the look and personality of what Disney likes. Especially her personality.. she seems pretty outgoing.

So in a way.. the American people got the top two correct. Based on life after Idol. After the show's final episode this season... the rest are now forgotten. Lets bring in the 2008 class

I bought Jordin's winning single on Itunes, I'm actually really impressed. The only other singles I've liked were Kelly's and Fantasia's, this one's actually really good too though. Plus she sounds amazing on it.

"happened" to the Divine Miss M is this: Her earphone wasn't working and she couldn't hear her own voice. Any professional singer will tall you that, if you're singing with a full orchestra, and you can't hear your own voice, it's impossible to sing on key. AI has had constant sound/mike problems this year. For all the money they make you'd think they could afford to get it right.

Now that Jordin Sparks has moved into the forefront of the American Idol race, the backlash is underway, with conspiracy theories in full swing-- and a political hot potato that's jumped from the back burner to center stage.

We toldyou about the initial controversy over Jordin's entry into this season's contest (aided by Idol sponsor Coca Cola), and suspicion that her victory has been in the cards all along. Now, photos showing Jordin with Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson, supposedly taken three years ago, have led to speculation that the judges may have pretended not to know her when she auditioned-- and that she's indeed been groomed for Idoldom in some secret lab.


And now add the Christian Right to mix!


Jordin's never been shy about her Christian faith. She recorded a CD with "Jesus music" pioneer Matthew Ward, toured with Christian singer Michael W. Smith, placed second in 2004 at the Gospel Music Association's Music in the Rockies national competition for aspiring Contemporary Christian Music artists (the same one that Chris Sligh competed in two years earlier). And the GMA says it recognizes Jordin and fellow finalist Melinda Doolittle as Christian artists who are "keeping the faith."


Not that there's anything wrong with a big organized Christian Idol voting bloc (remember those phone centers in India?), but the controversy gets down to politics, in the form of abortion.


Though she's only seventeen and probably won't have to think seriously about the issue until she goes on the Idol tour and finds out she's been knocked up by Sanjaya, Jordan is well-known in her home state of Arizona and among the Christian crowd as a "pro-life"-- or anti-abortion-- crusader.


And until recently, she apparently had this picture on her MySpace page:

Photos of Jordin at anti-abortion events and stories about her activism have been on line for months, but only reaching mainstream attention now that she has the best chance of taking the American Idol title.

The stir that's brewing is similar to last year's storm over contestant Mandisa and her connection to the "ex-gay" movement. And with some expressing concern that Jordin will use her American Idol platform to preach against abortion, this sort of fight is one that will bring out votes on both sides.
