American Idol (Season 9) [merged]

I am not a big follower of the show this year, but catch parts of it on t.v., and some things on YouTube. I am amazed Siobhan lasted THIS long,....she is horrible! Her look is awful, and her voice wavers way too much. It looks like Crystal Bowersox is going to be in the top two for sure. Even if she gets voted off next week though, she is definitely going to have a career ahead of her.......
 
Shania gave us the best night of the season, but Im very disappointed in this year overall.

I'm going to the Idols live concert, praying they sell well enough. There's 49 dates for an underwhelming year...very bold!
 
Why would you want to support a bad season by going to the live show? Gosh, I can't even sit through TV performances with commercial breaks. Simply can't imagine a constant concert...bleh.

Siobhan's survival hinged on the quality of the other contestants. This year was her best hope of winning, barring an even worse future season should Idol survive the loss of Simon. I'm not holding my breath. No Simon, No Paula. Just Randy, Ellen, and Kara? Even with another fourth judge (and might I say the 4th judge thing was a bad idea from day one) the show's got no legs to stand on.

But yeah, Crystal is the only one with hope for a career, but even she needs a significant amount of help and work first.
 
Wow. I though everyone was horrible with the exception of Crystal. And the judges think that Lee was the best performance of the night? And that Michael Lyche was good? I for one can't wait for this season to be over, and for Big Brother to start!

I can't believe Kara is JUST picking up on the fact that Casey has the most warbley voice ever....it's like Shakira...lol

Aaron I thought sounded alright tonight...the performance just didn't do anything for me..

Michael was middle of the road...sounded alright...but did absolutely nothing to the song...it just sounded like anyone else who's ever covered that song

Crystal was good tonight...def one of her weaker performances but not as bad as they were saying. I think they are now doing what they did last year....oh no we overhyped someone..we have to start giving them really harsh critiques to make it look like we don't have a favorite...and DAMNIT! this 2nd guy is shaping up to be really good...looks like we have another Kris Allen on our hands(but one that pales in comparison)

Lee...was def the best of the night....he sang that great...he put the nice "swagger" as they said 50+ times last night that needed to be in the song...but kept his little raspy rocker vibe in there as well.

and YES BIG BROTHER!!!
 
I actually liked Casey's performance. It was my favorite from him. But I never liked anything he ever did before. Also, for the first time he actually looked kinda sexy. His ass looked decent in those tight black pants.

I agree! It's a shame he was in the Bottom Three considering he was THE BEST of Shania night. I've come around on Casey. I don't always love him -- or his personality -- but he's given a slew of decent performances and three absolutely amazing ones ("Jealous Guy" and "I'm Coming" in addition to last week) which is more than I can say for the boring likes of Aaron Kelly and yeah even front-runner Lee Dewyze.

And of course, Casey will now go home tonight. I am so over this season. A season of so much promise slowly petered out because of America's puzzling fascination with charmless teens (Aaron/Katie) and smooth bores (Lee/Mike). The Top 4 should have been Crystal, Didi, Siobhan and Casey but at this rate, we'll be lucky if Crystal can still wrestle the crown away from Lee!
 
Another night without a season-saving miracle. More judge antics, more of the same singing (not a good thing) and nothing to save the show.

I wonder how many people are willing to believe this was the most talented group they could pull from all those chosen for hollywood? Maybe Crystal. If it is the best from Hollywood (know it isn't true, heard some other singers during that time which blow many of these away) then something is definitely wrong elsewhere. Perhaps in the determination to have a female winner?
 
Can I just say that Harry Connick Jr. is an extremely handsome, funny and talented man?

I was a little shocked to see Leo playing the piano, though. :p
 
It's a shame that Casey will likely be leaving tonight just because Sinatra is way out of is element. He's had far too many great performances to let this recent one be his last. I'm not saying he deserves to win, but I think he does deserve at least the final 3. His guitar is his crutch; not necessarily a bad thing. But unfortunately on Idol you are only as good as your last performance.
 
I gotta give props to Lady Gaga for gaying up primetime. Her male dancers were all over each other! When do we ever get to see that? It was so funny though b/c it was so obvious Fox cameras/producers were freaking out. They were cutting all over the place.

I dont like that song though. It's poor man's "La Isla Bonita"
 
Ah, what an unexpected elimination. My 3rd choice for who would go home tonight.

Not that I'm disappointed. Far from it. Not a one of them could disappoint me by going away.

I'll leave the name until everyone has had a chance to see it.
 
Ugh. Can Big Mike ever go home?!

I knew when the judges saved him that we'd be stuck with him 'til at least the Top 4. Now it's looking like he'll probably make it even further.
 
i was super excited to see lady gaga's performance tonight, but to be honest i was kinda unimpressed..i know she's far better than that, and wish that she got to perform live..but it's all good..thought aaron would make it to the top 3..perhaps..either way..lets skip to the finale
 
GaGa's performance was good....but didn't fit with "Alejandro" I thought....too low energy I think....but yeah...what about her dancers all over each other....you know if Adam Lambert did that performance it would be a HUGE deal....doubt anyone will even mention it tomorrow cause it was her.

All the contestants are so dull this year. No wonder why the show's ratings are slipping every week.
 
Ratings may be low (relatively for AI). But its ratings are still the envy of every other television show. People speculate that this will be the last season. But with ratings still dominating every other show, Fox would be stupid to pull the plug. Obviously with big guest names such as Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, and Harry Connick Jr (just to name a few out of many), they are still raking in a crapload of cash.
 
I don't think they would pull the plug before the 10th season...I'm guessing...unless next season is amazing and whoever they get to replace Simon is someone great...then next season will be the last.
