I have been there. It is very painful to watch but at some point you have to make the choice to cut them out of your life.
If that sounds harsh, I'm sorry but in our case, the sympathy and caring we showed simply allowed it to continue and it started to drag the rest of us down. Drug abusers have NO qualms about using people for their next fix.
You can't help someone who doesn't want it. She had better chances than most, and she refused to do it.
I hope she's at peace but this isn't something that came out of the blue.

She was only 27?!

I wasn't a fan and didn't follow her. I just assumed she was much, much.... muchmuchmuch... older.

Wow.

Well, RIP Amy. I hope you find the peace you sought.

My thoughts are with her friends and family. So young...

27? Someone told me she was 35 and I said she had to be older. Drugs really do ravage.

She was a great vocal talent from what I knew and it's a shame to the extent that a good artist is no more and that drug addiction claimed another life but no more, really.

It's not like people were lining around the block trying to get her help yesterday or claiming worry when was plastered all over tmz. So to act like a piece of your soul passed away with her is a bit...much.

She was a drug addict who died of an overdose. Her death is an absolute shame; not a tragedy. The killing in Norway was a tragedy.

Indeed. She had control over her death and could have prevented it. The kids in Norway weren't even given a choice.

It's sad that Amy has died, but, as many have said here, it wasn't a matter of 'if'. It was a matter of 'when'. After I saw her in that concert video, I knew she had very little time left on Earth.

You definitely "think" she had a drug and alcohol problem? I thought it was pretty much a known fact for everyone that she was. But yea I agree with your assessment. And I would like what was the actual CAUSE of death, as well. Don't think it's been released yet...

Ironically enough her last appearance on stage saw her in good spirits; cheerful, dancing and smiling....though not singing. This is how she should be remembered, though. Having fun, grooving and enjoying being up on stage.
