Re: Amy Winehouse = LOL

>>>Stick to water love, you might get somewhere.

I think she's got a shelf full of Grammys that can refute that one.

She's apparently made her decision - drugs over health. So be it. I just don't want a bunch of fans whining when she dies young about how she "never got to fulfill her promise", "what a tragedy it all is", and "someone should've done something". These same fans were too busy applauding her and keeping her Q rating up to bother helping.

Re: Amy Winehouse = LOL

If anyone's playing the (ahem) black and white game here, marley, that'd be you.

First off, please note that I said I don't want "a bunch of fans", specifically pointing out that "these same fans were too busy applauding her". I didn't say "everyone who bought her album" or "everyone who ever liked a song by her". Just the ones who love the spectacle of it all.

Secondly, yes, in general, when someone dies of a drug overdose, it's a tragedy. I'm specifically talking about this particular case. Has there ever been anyone who has been encouraged in her drug use quite as much as Amy Winehouse? It makes the Dean Martin "drunk act" look like an intervention. And even if/when she does die of an overdose, I wasn't even claiming that THAT wouldn't be a tragedy. My bitch is that the same people who are currently thinking how great it is that she's so fucked up will be joining those who shake their heads mounfully postmortem, saying that somebody should've done something. Either ignoring or ignorant of their own culpability in the affair.

Re: Amy Winehouse = LOL

She is such a train wreck, I absolutely adore her.

She is my idol.

Re: Amy Winehouse = LOL

^ And I wonder if that's not part of it.

The longer she continues getting "fucked up", and surviving, and staying in the papers, the more the message gets reinforced that it's OK. That getting fucked up and doing a half-assed job isn't just forgiveable, isn't just acceptable, but something to be praised. That one can not only survive but thrive in such a state. Hell, Amy does it, why not me? Why can't I get fucked up and do a half-assed job? Maybe I'll be unlucky, and have a boss with a stick up his ass about things like "responsibility," but then fuck him - I don't want to work for him anyway.

But if she dies, that throws a spanner in the works. It suggests that maybe actions do have consequences after all. And perhaps that's the true "tragedy". The fact that the idol for fucked-upedness couldn't keep it going. And the "fans" will have to go searching for another.

Anita Baker can sing. She just so rarely sings anything I think is worth singing. :)

She needs a nose job.

Re: Amy Winehouse = LOL

The way I see it, there are those drama queens marley mentions, but there are also many who just want celebs to get better. I saw many, even in the media, saying they wanted Britney to get help. As far as Amy, I've never seen so many "God I hope she gets help-Why? Amy Why?-Please help yourself!" messages about any other celeb. I think I may be a bit of both, but if one thing is for sure it's that I like her music.

I think this is my favorite video out of the Back to Black videos.

It's a perfect description of how it feels to go through a whole day out in a busy street with a problem you can't get away from. She could've spent the whole day out walking or in the house, in the end her problem is with her.

Re: Amy Winehouse = LOL

Hahaha Amy Winehouse is a mess, and hilarious. I love her.

Re: Amy Winehouse = LOL

I'd really like to see her get off drugs and alcohol, kick her dependency, surround herself with well wishers, keep out of the public light for a while, and improve. The music and talent were great without the drugs on her first album. She needs to stop taking her gift for granted and abusing her body.

Re: Amy Winehouse saves a boy's life

Why wouldn't her heart be at the right place?

Anyway, it's good to hear. Glad the boy's safe and a possible tragedy was avoided. Good on you, Amy! :D

Re: Amy Winehouse saves a boy's life

If she looked like this whilst charging over to me to stop me nibbling on a nut, I'd stop and be scared too!

Re: Amy Winehouse saves a boy's life

By saving one life, she's saved one more life than some of the people who criticize her and pass judgment on her will ever save. Some of them probably wouldn't have even known that the boy was about to do ingest something toxic.

+1 Amy
-1 Amy criticizers

I wonder how they get so comfortable up on that high horse, does their superiority come with a saddle?

You're already up there -- why don't you tell us?
