Attorneys for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake argued in court on Tuesday that a judge should dismiss Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer’s defamation lawsuit against her, saying that Lake’s claims were “rhetorical hyperbole” and not meant to be taken as facts.

Lake’s lawyers also claimed that Richer filed the suit with the intention to chill her right to political speech, as protected by the First Amendment. Attorneys representing Richer argued against both of those claims.

Richer, also a Republican, filed the suit in June after enduring a continuous onslaught of vitriol and false claims from Lake and her followers regarding the outcome of the 2022 race for Arizona governor, which Lake continues to claim was stolen from her and given to Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs.

I don't think it was an error and she was fully conscious of what she was doing and why she couldn't condemn slavery. It might have played in front of the racist Trogs in South Carolina, but in New England that is going to be a poison pill.

It also shows an utter lack of principle and integrity and showcases her comfort with pandering to fucking racists. How difficult is it to say slavery was evil? If one's constituents can't hear you say that and still support, you, who the fuck are you trying to please in the first place Nimrata?

She knows what the 'Pubs have become, she is fine with promoting the hate. This was not a "flub."

BTW that narrative that the Civil War was about rights is exactly correct, the "right" to own people and abuse, rape, and torture them with impunity. It was about economics, the economics of forced labor and trafficking in little children. Outside of Maine, we have never met more anti-black racists than in NH, except in a whole bunch of the midwest states and the south.

I say it was an unforced error because if she is chasing Trump voters, which she didn't have to do in NH, she is sure to lose.

She needs to grab the never-trumps and the independents.

She won't because she is one of them. Her biggest con job is that she managed to convince a bunch of people that she had what passes for integrity in the 'Pubby party. Well now we know, that voter put her in an either-or position, and look which way she jumped.
