The US has a military base on Greenland. I know people who have been to that base and they speak of it like most of us speak of a root canal or a colonoscopy. The temperatures are seldom above freezing. 80% of the island is covered by glacial ice year-round. In the winter, there is less than 4 hours of sunlight (if it's not cloudy) and in the summer there is less than 4 hours of darkness. It's still fucking cold, even when the sun is out.

I don't know what alternative universe these people are in and why the media is wasting so much time talking about the ramblings of a 78 year old senile lunatic.
Posobiec nails it. Resources.

The same thing that drives the invasion of Ukraine by the Kremlin oligarchs.
Something to ponder: there's a whole continent full of resources - rare minerals and low wage workers. That continent has all sorts of Chinese and Russian operatives working there to build infrastructure, mine minerals and buy up land. Russia and China are paying off politicians to gain influence in resource-rich countries on that continent. That continent also doesn't have a permanent glacier covering the land.

In the latter part of the 20th century both Clinton and GW Bush invested in Africa. Then along came a guy who referred to the countries with the cheap, afforable, accessible resources as "shithole countries".

Yeah...always wondered why the US threw Africa to the Kremlin and China.

I suspect it has to do with the titans of global industries looking to get resources at slave wage prices to build their shit in China.

And for rrrZZZia, also just a global power play to lessen US and European influence.

But Canada and Greenland are closer than Africa to feed all the new factories that TrumpCo. plan to build there.

Oops. Except for Tesla plants being shipped to Chynah.

Seeing how dementia affects different people in different ways is puzzling.

Some people become placid and mild:

While others regress to infantile temper tantrums that alternate between incoherent and irrational:

Well...certainly sounds like all the Christmases after this one are going to be pretty awful...

If democrats come to their senses they would control the House and the Senate in 2026.

But by that time, it is equally likely that the GOP will work to outlaw elections, that states' elections will be so corrupted that the slide to autocracy will mean that there will be no more really representative democracy possible in the US.

You are all almost there now.

Apparently having a country basically divided 50% for the GOP and 50% for the Dems also doesn't resonate with TrumpCo. and the Repubs, who keep trumpeting that they have this massive landslide mandate.

If 115,000 more Democrats had bothered to vote in key races, Harris and the Dems would have

It's worse than that. 27% of Americans ID as Democrats (a record low, btw). Historically, that's also the same number as those who ID as Republicans.

43% of Americans consider themselves to be independent (with a small "i"). That why we had so many elections where a Congressional seat went to a Democrat even if Trump won the Presidential in that district.

It also means that both sides need to wake up because both parties are creating an American public that doesn't like either party.

I don't think the two sides will ever see eye to eye.

Or is it just 'democracy'?

Lake is where the Koch Brother found themselves: no one will vote her into office, so she's going to find other roads to power.

She apparently is going to Joseph Goebbels route. Friend of the Dear Leader. Selling herself as a media and [dis]nformation guru.

Too bad she doesn't know the history and how things ended for Die Familie Goebbels. ☠️

Yeah, but Goebbels took the cyanide the day after Hitler did. Der Trumpenführer is basically just getting started on this term. Given the opportunity, Lake could do a lot of damage before reaching the end. Hopefully, she won't get the chance.

Lake is great at messaging. She's terrible at managing things. Hilter's strategy was to recruit competent but compliant individuals. Trump seems to be going to other way- recruiting family in his first term but for his second term, recruiting incompetent leaders but more savvy deputy leaders.

The United States is a Constitutional Republic.
Until Jan 20th 2025. We'll see what happens after that.

If you're thinking that we're in the days where the Republican Party had a philosophy underlying its strategy, you're stuck in the past. The post-Eisenhower Republican Party ended with the 2018 election.
