They may have been, but not during that video. I've been present when people spoke in tongues, and eulalia doesn't sound like English. She was plainly speaking in English the entire time, and the murmuring and echoing replies of those in the circle were just English phrases of affirmation.So... they were speaking in tongues in front of the White House.
Praying in public isn't considered fringe behavior in the U.S., at least not within the Christian majority. The differences in prayer practices and traditions are allowed, so this semi-ecstatic display isn't regarded as anything odd, aside from their ability to completely ignore Trump's greed, vanity, cruelty, arrogance, pride, lying tongue, lechery, and trust in earthly power. Hearing them attempt to sanctify him is a bit like hearing Roman Christians asking God to hem about Nero or Caligula with a hedge of protection.
- It's an example of how fringe religious behavior has become mainstream. More and more people are moving out of traditional denominations like Methodism and into these charismatic Pentecostal movements.

Yep. Upon re-listen, I can hear him in the background praying "batta, batta, batta, batta, batta" but he never gets to "SWING!"It's a group of Texas pastors, at least one of whom is speaking in tongues.
Sharon Bolan Yerby is the woman in the foreground. She has a church in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area. She's not speaking in tongues. It's English, even if it's just a bunch of random Pentecostal buzzwords and phrases. It's the usual exhortation type of prayer which tends to sound like a locker room pep talk, only with random religious references.
In the first minute of the video, you can hear a male voice saying nonsense words like "balala". It doesn't sound like my favorite shyster, Kenneth Copeland, who has a "church" not too far from Sharon Bolan's church.

Would have been a lot more fun if this a--hole had married Caitlin Jenner.
Just going to point out something- Mike Johnson is a Republican from Louisiana but he's also Speaker of the House and the second in line in Presidential succession. He does have a bigger responsibility to the nation at large. It’s fine to dislike Murkowski for being an oily politician for whom survival will always trump any principle but it’s not her job to save the country from a bad bill, her job is to represent Alaska and she did that. It’s Mike Johnson’s job to spare the people of Louisiana but he’s not going to do that. I can’t tolerate either one of them but I’d much rather have Murkowski represent me.

A teacher at a Clay County church school was charged June 11 with soliciting a child online for sex, jail records show.
Joshua Dice, 34, was the second employee of Calvary Christian Academy in Middleburg arrested in the past three years on charges involving underage sex...
One of the abbreviated charges listed against Dice involved using a computer to seduce, solicit or lure a child “misrep age,” which may suggest the charge might involve online contact with an adult, such as a police officer, posing as a child to catch pedophiles.
Dice was also charged with traveling to meet a minor for sex following his arrest in the 600 block of Blanding Boulevard in Orange Park and using a two-way device (like a cell phone) to facilitate a felony.

Former Baltimore church pastor indicted for child sex abuse allegations from 1980
A former Baltimore church pastor was indicted in Massachusetts on child sex abuse charges, according to the Berkshire District Attorney's Office.
Eric Anderson, a former pastor at Greater Grace World Outreach church, is facing two counts of assault and battery on a child under 14.
The charges stem from incidents that allegedly occurred in June 1980, Julia Sabourin with the attorney's office said.

Web of megachurch sex abuse leads to a trusted pastor and his sons
In all, 32 people told The Millstones they had been sexually abused as children by men of Greater Grace, primarily prominent church members or leaders. Some shared their stories for the first time, several before they had mustered the courage to tell their own families. The Millstones also learned of 18 additional survivors through people they considered trusted sources. And no place — not even the church’s most beloved institutions — was safe from predatory behavior. Not the annual conference of foreign missionaries or summer camp. Not even the church building itself...
It was Jesse Anderson, a youth volunteer who taught Bible classes to kids and teens and worked as a camp counselor. He had also been convicted of molesting a boy in the church and had escaped prison time for his felony offenses.
Anderson belonged to one of the church’s best-known families, the second youngest of four boys. His older brother, Jonathan Anderson, was also a Sunday School teacher and church camp counselor. And his father, Pastor Eric Anderson, was the longtime head of the Maryland Bible College and Seminary and a friend of Pastor Carl Stevens, the church’s founder...
