BeeCee has its share of crazies, too. I've been to Port A. - place seemed a little redneck to me. If The_Pianist was still in here, he'd verify that BC is by no means anything close to unanimously liberal, and P. A. is far enough away from anything metropolitan (i. e. few if any commuters into the cities).

Similar to how Chicago "makes" Illinois liberal, but this state also has some parts that are very deeply Southern...

OK, but it's still Canada, I always picture Canada as this place of kinda general goodwill, where there are mooses, and bears (in flannel), and cool days, everyone buried in snow half the year being nice to one another - you know full of hot Mounties in red coats. I agree. Unless he's hiking, he looks like someone that would be hanging out on the street in DTES Vancouver... although he seems lucid enough to argue with the person working there.

The shame if it is that it's getting harder and harder to make distinctions between the mentally-ill and the radical people on the right.

I'm not so sure there is much of a distinction.

What I think we're seeing first hand is mass delusion and the extent of mental health issues in the general population.

We know that sociopaths are in the boardroom and the bedroom.

We know that millions of families are borderline dysfunctional because parents can't keep it together in the home, but present that near-perfect butter-wouldn't-melt-in-their-mouths facade to their work-mates or fellow church-goers.

We know how many people suffer from anxiety and depression and drug/alcohol dependence.

The seething mess of conservative anger is exploding. And without an external enemy to focus on, we see these poorly equipped and sometimes literally trigger happy repressed and angry people turning on anyone.
