The House passed two new bills intended to address the US shortage of baby formula.

One bill- the "Infant Formula Supplemental Appropriations Act" - would allocate $28 million in funds to assist the FDA is buying formula from western countries. Only 12 Republican House members voted in support of this bill. The bill passed 231-192.

The other bill "Access to Baby Formula Act" relaxes regulations and will allow mothers on public assistance programs (e.g. the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children program aka "WIC") to buy whatever formula the store has in stock. The bill passed in a 414-9. Nine Republicans voted against the bill.

Guess who the 9 Republicans were? Deplorable "pro-life" Republicans, Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Paul Gosar (R-AZ.), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Clay Higgins (R-LA), Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Chip Roy (R-TX).

You know I have never forgotten when a professor I had in college asked us during a sociology lecture which race had the most people in poverty. I, and the other three Black people in the class were the only ones who actually said the correct answer: White people. Most of the kids said Black or Hispanic.

They always try to make minorities out to be the ones taking from the system, yet forget about all of the poor ass White folks who get help too. Food stamps, WIC, and all of the other programs help poor and rural White kids a lot! White people seem to forget this as well, seeing as how they always seem to vote against their own interests.
