And Let's not forget about the other Deplorables

^ Who on earth invites this compulsive thief to red-carpet events? ^
The problem is that there are some groups who are so hungry for a role model or a success story that they take things at face value and don't do the research. Brinton looked good on paper. And for the "social media influencer" generation, a masters-prepared nuclear engineer who was non-binary seemed like a game changer.

There's another trans assistant secretary: Dr Rachel Levine is an assistant secretary for health in HHS. She is a Harvard-trained physician and has a 30 year public health career, serving as the Secretary of Health for the State of Pennsylvania prior to her appointment to HHS. Dr Levine transitioned in her 50s and doesn't have quite the glamour or trendy caché that Brinton has.

This is Dr Rachel Levine:

More troubles in the Duggar family.

After the Josh Duggar incident(s), some of the siblings are speaking out about Bill Gothard's Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP), an evangelical Christian cult that the Duggar family is part of. In 2014, Gothard resigned after investigations revealed that he had sexually harassed nearly 40 female employees and cult members, and he had been covering up other incidents of sexual assault and sexual abuse in the IBLP organizations. Bill Gothard's brother, Steve was also implicated in multiple sexual affairs with IBLP employees.

Josh Duggar was a feature, not a bug.

The glorification of the Duggars was a huge loud warning bell.

Every cult is a twisted distortion of emotionally healthy society.

Btw. still also looking at you, Mormons.

 I mean, assuming that it was even possible. . .what would be wrong with more LGBTQ people ](*,)

GOP megadonor Harlan Crow says he has "put away" his infamous Hitler paintings, but he wouldn't say whether the Nazi memorabilia was off display permanently and said he doesn't see anything wrong with having them out, The Atlantic reported...

So, we're supposed to think that now, you're only a Nazi fuck in private?

You just know he doesn't see the problem with that.

It only makes him even more loathsome.

Fucking own it.

Be the NAZI. That way we all see you in the open as well as all those who fraternize with you for what you really are.

The only reason for a billionaire to buy a Hitler painting is to take it out of the market and destroy it. Along with all the other NAZI memorabilia .

I saw that frustrated cow being interviewed on television. The fact that she, and people like her, actually believe this nonsense boggles the mind. Calling themselves "Moms for Liberty" when they are against liberty.

A whole lot of them are perfectly aware of the lies they tell. We just aren't yet at a point where they can just scream "DIE F*****!" and get away with it. Give it time. they'll get there.

Buckingham Palace has rejected a call to return the remains of a 19th-century Ethiopian prince to his homeland.

The prince was taken to Victorian England as a young boy by British soldiers who ransacked his father's palace in the mountains of northern Ethiopia in 1868. Britain had sent a military force to the palace of his father, Emperor Tewodros II, at Maqdala to bargain for the release of diplomatic hostages.

Really Chuck?

You could almost keep a daily slot for the 'Windsors' as the heirs to the travesty of British Colonialism.

So typical that the palace and the government would cling to relics of the past instead of using the occasion as a 'move-forward' teachable moment.

Another example of why Chuck's short reign will likely become a footnote in history.

Watch that group. They're like the Proud Boys with Bibles and bleached blonde hair. They are out to take over school boards and curriculum committees. They had way too much time on their hands during the pandemic and we all know what they say about "idle hands".

Meanwhile, Rafael "Cancun Ted" Cruz and Marsha "I woke up this way" Blackburn, the Senate cheerleaders for the bleached blonde hair Betty Bowers crowd, are determined to defund corporate donations to the Republican Party by pissing off Anheuser-Busch. Anheuser-Busch and their employees donated $514,375 to the Republican Senatorial Committee, $464,505 to the Republican Congressional Committee and $200,322 to the RNC.

Go Ted and Marsha!

Honestly, I could see this as a first step to getting the remains released. If the palace returned them promptly, English right-wingers would howl about it. Saying no will get decent people to howl about it (well, maybe not howl), creating the public pressure needed politically to release the remains.

I'm not sure about British law in this area, but it's entirely possible that Parliament would have to give positive assent to the return of the remains. Same with the Parthenon Marbles: I believe that the British Museum is forbidden by law to deaccession any treasures in its collection.

We don't want to turn more people, or even kids, LGBTQ, of course. We just want the ones who already are LGBTQ not to torment themselves over it, to embrace it and be happy instead of miserable. (And we want the kids who aren't LGBTQ not to torment the ones who are.)

The problem is that "Moms for Liberty" and the people who honestly* support them seem to be incapable of making that distinction. That level of reasoning is beyond them, whether through lack of cognitive ability or prejudice and fear getting in the way of their reasoning processes.

That asterisk after honestly is to except the intelligent-and-immoral people like Ivy-educated Ted Cruz and Ron DeSantis who do know better but are cynically manipulating others for votes. And I provisionally except from that group the highly-educated Josh "Jesus made me straight" Hawley, who appears to have other issues with respect to masculinity and sexuality.

It would be comforting to think that but I suspect there is no intention to return anything to anybody, just ask Greece. No one in the world cares about this but Ethiopians and Chuck. This isn't the first time Ethiopia has asked this question, no one howled before, and no one is going to howl now.

Chuck in his tone-deaf, entitled, underpants dweller myopia, missed a perfect chance to recover some of the dignity that died with his mother. No dice.

UK law actually does forbid deaccessioning items from the British Museum's collection, which means any such arrangements are up to Parliament, and Charles is constitutionally forbidden to interfere, as was his mother. (If he were to interfere, you would probably be dumping on him for the hubris of exceeding his proper powers.)

I work in a related field, and I see every English-language news story about the fate of the Parthenon Marbles that comes down the wires. The Greek and British governments have been negotiating for many months over those marbles -- making progress, posturing in the press, selectively leaking, etc.

The marbles' return will be announced as soon as legal language that addresses both sides' political sensitivities is agreed on. If the Greeks weren't so allergic to the word "loan," some of the artworks would probably be in Athens already -- although I understand well why the word "loan" is unacceptable to them.

In fact, my prediction is that, one way or another, some, if not all, of the Parthenon marbles will be headed back to Athens within six months of the next Labour government taking power, if not sooner.

They've been saying that about the STOLEN Elgin marbled for years and years. When? What about the Kohinoor diamond? Or any of the other plethora of things looted form all over the world? Beurocratic stalling only gets one so far. If there was actually a will, it would be done by now.

Anyway, that kidnapped boy isn't in a museum, he's in a church, and if they consider him "part of a collection" well that's its own special kind of nastiness. All of these things were "obtained" by Colonial Britain through oceans of blood, rapine, death, slavery, and terror. They are no different than blood diamonds from Southern Africa, and I'm going to have to say that if Chuck climbed up on his Scottish rock and promised to send the Kid home, it would suddenly become possible. No actual politician is going to argue with that.

The point being that no one in the Palace bothered to consider what an offense his presence in England is in the first place.

We have to deal with our own sins, and Britain needs to deal with theirs. Neither they nor we are going to be able to just forget and move along.

This was an opportunity they all failed to take advantage of. You'd think someone among Chuck et al, mired in their petty squabbling over petty bullshit would have realized the opportunity.

They didn't even try.

No, that poor kidnapped prince is not part of a collection. Is the CofE's excuse that they can't disinter him without disturbing others' graves legit? I don't know the layout of graves in question, so I'm not prepared to say that the church is lying.

In any case, the young prince himself is dead, and so are most of his relatives. I personally would put a higher priority on returning the tabots looted from Maqdala, as there are still a great many religious Ethiopians who care about them. I think two tabots are at Westminster Abbey, which means they belong to the Crown, and I think Charles should have them returned. (I also think that he is probably being extremely cautious about being seen to give any orders so early in his reign.) The rest of the tabots are at the British Museum. Unfortunately, I think it's safe to say that the Tory Parliament has no interest in revisiting the British Museum Act (I mean, you don't seriously expect a Conservative Party government to do the right thing without being forced, do you?), so we'll have to wait a couple of years for real movement on that.

Kari Lake. For milking this wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too long.

A judge has dismissed the only remaining legal claim in Kari Lake’s challenge of her loss in last year’s race for Arizona governor, affirming the election of Democrat Katie Hobbs.

That makes a total of 87 losses for Kari Lake — must be a new world record!!

And in response she announces a new vote hunt initiative.

Surely by now she must be breaking some serious wire fraud laws.

Bingo.

Attorneys are expensive. Litigation is expensive. But where is the money coming from and where is it going?
