And Let's not forget about the other Deplorables

i'm not understanding this though...the far right is still being bankrolled by some pretty dark money and I can't see either party supporting taking money out of politics at this point...they all benefit.
Citizens United was a McConnell-Koch Brothers project. They thought that if they could unleash "Free $$$peech", the Republicans would benefit.

Then dark money poured into the McSally-Kelly Senate race in Arizona and they realized that the Democrats didn't do their usual self-righteous thing. Instead the Democrats got to work to set up their own Koch-style dark money organizations.

Now that the Republicans are seeing that they're losing races in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada and Arizona, some of them have decided that they have unleased a monster.

In the last term, a moderate Republican and a liberal Democrat both proposed a 28th Amendment to reform campaign finance laws.

From your keyboards to the Gods' eyes.

I hope this is true.

But now the Dems...having tasted the sweet sweet nectar of dark money brews will be less likely to give it up either.

I just don't believe that. Greed does not trump all, if that were true, we'd all still be surfs.

Americans are good at learning lessons. Their problem is retaining the lessons.

About 50 years ago, both parties decided that sunshine was the best disinfectant and a lot of reform laws to clean up politics (and politicians). Those "sunshine laws" and Freedom of Information Act statutes have a bullseye on them.

DeSantis signed a bill that exempted his own travel records from public disclosure:

And Sarah Huckabullshit Sanders signed a similar bill to keep the sunshine off her travel records:

With McCarthy and Pelosi out of the Speaker's office, their might be an interest in reforming some of the fundraising rules and maybe even a Constitutional Amendment out of the House. Of course, Schumer and McConnell are also big in the dark money game, so it might have to happen after they are gone.

...Trump took the stand Monday at a hearing that was off to a shaky start, as he repeatedly butted heads with New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron, who lectured Trump for whining and veering off track in his responses. ..

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is tired of showboating members of Congress — especially the ones in her own party...

...The clips [released by DeSantis] include Trump forgetting what state he was in, confusing Biden with Obama, denying he said things he said a week before, confusing Kristi Noem with Nikki Haley, confused George Bush with Biden, confused George Bush with Jeb Bush, said Orban was the leader of Turkey, said Turkey bordered Russia, praised Hezbollah, said World War II was about to begin, confused RFK Jr with JFK Jr, confused abortion laws, told people not to vote, and others...

...Despite treading through a sea of well-documented lies about his background, embattled congressman George Santos vowed that he would prove another dubious claim about his past true “before I die”. In an interview with CNN’s Manu Raju over the weekend, Mr Santos doubled down on his claim that his family members fled the Holocaust...

...Mike Johnson, the hardline conservative and outspoken Christian who was elected House speaker in October, has raised eyebrows after he admitted using an app which bills itself as a tool to help people “quit porn”...

There is literally nothing to say.

Elsewhere. after losing all levels of government in Michigan, the 'Pubs are unhappy with the lemon Toad sold them.

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Former staunch allies of Michigan GOP Chairwoman Kristina Karamo, who assumed the role following an unsuccessful secretary of state campaign, are now uniting to remove her as the party remains mired in infighting and hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt...

I would wax pious about lunatics running asylums, but I'm laughing too hard. Let's all get out there and SAVE KRISTINA! We need leadership like hers in all the 'Pubby places in the country!

Because, of course.

One of the leading organizers of the "Stop the Steal" rally in Washington, D.C., questioned Kentucky's election results after a Democratic governor won re-election...

Why do these guys always look like the people who couldn't get a Prom date in High School?

Ohio also voted to make pot legal.

You know in the movies, when the little guy keeps getting knocked on his ass, and all his cronies are shouting at him to stay down....

After a majority of Ohio voters on Tuesday passed Issues 1 and 2 enshrining abortion rights in the state constitution and legalizing recreational marijuana usage, respectively, Republicans in the state are vowing to push back on the measures in upcoming elections. "This isn't the end," Ohio Senate President Matt Huffman said in a statement, per Ohio Statehouse Bureau Chief Karen Kasler. "It is really just the beginning of a revolving door of ballot campaigns to repeal or replace Issue 1."

It's just kind of staggering that these politicians insist on thinking they can win with 1/3 of 1/3. It's like some kind of political malpractice or something,

So reproductive rights, what, 7 or so, troglodytes 0.

All the worries that New Jersey Democrats would lose more seats in the state Legislature — and maybe even lose control — Tuesday night quickly evaporated after the polls closed. By midnight, it was clear that whatever red wave crashed upon the Garden State in 2021 had receded in 2023...

It's not often we hear good news out of NJ. The deplorable here is the reporting that will insist that Biden is some kind of senile old anchor going to bring everyone down. Despite his great job, and all the evidence to the contrary.

..."I think the GOP last night died as a coherent national party and is now just a series of regional tribes," conservative commentator Erick Erickson wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, linking to his own longer analysis of the party's woes...

I've decided that there's been so much winning, I'm tired of all the winning.

I've decided that there's been so much winning, I'm tired of all the winning.
Well the Anti-Christ warned us that Americans would get tired of all the winning....I have to say that as someone with a peripheral stake...I am fucking exhausted.

New Jersey Republicans went into Election Day with high hopes, believing they could end Democratic majorities that have endured for 20 years.Instead, Democrats flipped five seats in the Assembly, allowing the party to increase its control of that chamber, and reclaimed the 3rd District Senate seat they lost in 2021... [Republican officials] are stressing the importance of mail-in voting to the GOP’s electoral future...
