Phoenix police arrested 54 people at a golf tournament in Scottsdale. Not Mardi Gras. Not a Superbowl party. A golf tournament.

The crowds were so drunk and unruly that the venue stopped alcohol sales and closed the gates to prevent more people from entering the venue.

It was surreal. Scottsdale, where the venue was held, has been the winter haven for the rich, monied, conservative Republican crowd (80% white). This is golf... not NASCAR.

We do know though that the US has an increasing problem with alcohol abuse generally though so I am not surprised at the golf crowd from what I know of their habits.

The party crowd typically head to Vegas, not an expensive place like Scottsdale.

To see someone puking into a compost bin is not something that people in Scottsdale are used to seeing.

The actual number of arrests were:
2022 = 0
2023 = 18
2024 = 54

In New Mexico, a pastor has been charged with statutory rape and for producing child pornography. Rev Stephen Mendoza was having sex with a 15 year old congregant and exchanged nude photos with the congregant via his phone.

A North Charleston pastor has been accused of sexually abusing a minor over the course of multiple years, according to arrest records.

Karey Montrel Heyward, 34, was arrested Friday night in North Charleston. He was charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor under 16.

Heyward of Silverleaf Lane in Moncks Corner is accused of inappropriately touching and engaging in sexual conversations with the minor at multiple locations from 2012 to 2015, according to arrest records. The alleged abuse occurred at private residences.

Herbert Miller was arrested for selling meth from the parsonage. If the buyers were a little short of cash, Rev Miller would ask them to perform gay sex acts while he watched in exchange for the drugs.
